Giving It Up for the Silver and Black

We arrive arrive at 12 o'clock to make sure we get a table. We walk upstairs and?áwe can hear the DJ playing AC/DC's "Back in Black," perfect considering it's the Raider game. We grab a table as Adam, the president, welcomes us once again. We sit down and start ordering some comida and drinks.

It's Sunday afternoon at Fronteras Grill in Alhambra?áand all I'm thinking about?áis: What a great way to spend a nice day with Los Raider Fans and The SGV Booster Club.

I observe on the way in all these fans come together every Sunday, like going to church, to enjoy a day of good food and great drinks. It's all love and family style.

It's a beautiful thing seeing how everyone comes up the stairs greeting one another and how Adam the president of the club goes around the tables and welcomes booster members as well as newcomers like myself and my hubby.

Seeing so many people?ájoined together and the way everyone greeted each other was really an amazing feeling. Seeing familias bringing infants?áand ?áteenagers. Introducing them to the beginning of what it is to live in the Silver and Black life.?á

It's almost game time and everyone's getting pumped. Listening to good music, the waitress keeps bringing them drinks. Now it's?á20 minutes till game time and Fronteras Grill is packed. There's no more room for tables, so the over?áflow of fans have to sit downstairs. Before the game starts the V.P. of the club informs all patrons of rules and regulations. Alice -- the first lady as wife of the President of the booster club -- introduces LatinoLA.com "in da' house." and it's game time as the DJ plays "Raider Nation" by Ice Cube. I'm still in awe, saying to myself, "Wow, this is cool!"

Being part of the SGV Booster Club gives the true meaning of what "familia" is all about. All shapes and sizes and people of different nationalities coming together like jumbalaya. I'm honored to be allowed to be here and partake in a "lovely day." I had the honor of meeting a mother?áwho's son was being deployed to Japan the next day. This is what it's all about.

It like Sunday afternoon at abuelitas house.... everyone coming together grown folk-style and Los Raiders won the game! What a great way to end [i]el dia]/i] w/ the SGV Booster Club...

I will continue to invite my friends and family to join us every Sunday at Fronteras Grill. So they too can enjoy themselves as we do. It's a beautiful feeling to be taken in by a group of amazing people...

Alice (the first lady) said, "We love being able to bring the Latino Nation together and give back to the community."

The San Gabriel Booster Club was formed in 2009 and I know it will continue to expand with amazing people.

I want to give a special heartfelt thank you to Adam & Alice for not only putting this together but to continue your hard work and effort in making all of us feel like a part of your extended Familia. To all the SGV Booster Members, thank you all for allowing us to be part of what you are doing.

If you are ever in Alhambra and want to experience what it's like to be part of a great club join?áthem at Fronteras Grill.
