Mariachi Divas Nominated for Grammy Award
L.A.-based all female mariachi tops the Best Regional Mexican / Tejano category
Mariachi Divas have continued to impress their audiences and fans in the national and international music scene. Directed and founded by trumpet player Cindy Shea in 1999, the Mariachi Divas are a unique fusion of multicultural, all female ensemble, imbued with the true flavor of Los Angeles and have been represented by women of Mexican, Cuban, Samoan, Argentinean, Colombian, Panamanian, Puerto Rican, Swiss, Japanese, Honduran, Salvadorian, Peruvian, Tongan and Anglo descents. Cindy Shea states, "Music is a way of uniting our cultural backgrounds".

The Mariachi Divas are proud to announce their third Grammy nomination for their new CD Orale nominated in the 2012 Grammy Best Regional Mexican/Tejano Album category, with 15 new recordings that play to the traditional rhythms of the spirit of Latino Mariachi music. Songs including; Popurri El Mariachi, Cuando Cuando Cuando,Orale, El Cascabel and 11 others.
Winning a Grammy isn't anything new to the Mariachi Divas. In 2009, Mariachi Divas won the Grammy Award for Best Regional Mexican Album of the year for their 2008 release, Canciones De Amor. This marked the first time in the history of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences that an all-female mariachi group has ever been nominated and won a Grammy. In addition to their wonderful success the Mariachi Divas have united with Beto Jimenez Maeda, as Grammy award-winning producer and musical arranger for all three Grammy nominations.
The Divas have nationally distributed all seven CD's through Shea Records and East Side Records releasing their CD, 10 Aniversario in June 2009, which was nominated prior for a Grammy Award, celebrating the group's tenth year as Mariachi Divas. In June 2010, the Divas released their 6th CD, Viva La Diva which includes original music, mariachi classics and even a tribute to the "King of Pop", Michael Jackson.
This December 2011, the Mariachi Divas are in popular demand, spreading their cheer and warming the hearts of their audiences, performing at 'the happiest place on earth', as the official Disneyland Resort's mariachi ensemble, as they have for the past eight years. Performances will be held at Disney's California Adventure Pacific Wharf and Downtown Disney, starting December 16th, 2011 until January 8th, 2012, with other back to back scheduled performances; December 10th, performing at the Tucson Arizona's Desert Diamond Christmas show, December 14th, annual Mariachi Divas Christmas Concert, following with a December 16th Christmas performance at Universal City Walk Christmas Show, and then donating their time on December 20th, at the L.A Childrens Hospital. 2012 is predicted to be another great year for the Mariachi Divas as they anticipate another nomination for a Grammy Award to add to their collection of excellence.
