Play With the Big Boys


The " Budweiser Battle of the Bands " is a program designed to discover independent unsigned bands. Their performances are judged by professionals from all branches of the music industry. The ultimate aim is to assist these bands to secure a professional recording deal. Participating bands may submit music in any Pop-rock, Rock, or Spanish-language alternative style.

The program consists of six monthly band competitions that take place June through November 2003. These events take place at prestigious Los Angeles-area club venues such as The Conga Room, The Key Club, The Palace, The 1650 Club, House of Blues, The Knitting Factory, etc. These events are 21 & over.

Budweiser Battle of the Bands 2003 kicks off on June 12th with a concert at the Conga Room featuring Mexico's Inspector and "Budweiser Battle of the Bands 2002 " winner Los Abandoned (pictured).

Bands that want to be considered should submit their demo tapes to:
ACA Marketing, 12115 Magnolia Blvd. #179, N. Hollywood, CA 91607.

The deadline for all demos is July 15, 2003.

After reviewing all demo tapes, 12 semi-finalists will be selected. Each of these 12 bands will perform a two-song set during one of three preliminary concert rounds, scheduled as follows:

Two bands in July 2003; five bands in August 2003; and five bands in September 2003.

A panel of experts comprised of respected music industry professionals (including record producers, talent managers, and members of the press) will judge each competition. Bands will be assigned points for presentation, composition, musicianship, etc. Each of these preliminary concert rounds will also feature a full set by an internationally acclaimed band as headliner.

At the conclusion of the three preliminary rounds, the four bands receiving the most points will move on to the finals, where they will each be invited to perform a 45-minute set in one of two final concert events, scheduled as follows:

Two bands in October 2003; two bands in November 2003

An international band will also perform at each of these concert events. The panel of judges will tabulate final results and the " Budweiser Battle of the Bands 2003" winner will be announced at the conclusion of the November headliner's set.

Prizes will include gear from "street hot " brand Vans, instruments from the legendary signature Fender, and other prizes to be announced.

Budweiser Battle of the Bands 2002 contestants shared the stage with the following international artists: Molotov (M?xico); Los Piojos and Celeste Carballo (Argentina); Mexican Jumping Frijoles (M?xico); Fidel Nadal (Argentina); Santa Sabina (M?xico); Babasonicos (Argentina); Leonardo de Lozanne (M?xico) and Catupecu Machu (Argentina).
