Self Help has been at the soul of my experiences in LatinoLA.
My young family's first contact with Chicano art was at Self Help, and from there I took off to explore many more aspects of our cultura and to commit to sharing them.

But I digress: This Friday, April 20 -- tomorrow -- Self Help holds it Feria and Awards Dinner, from 6 pm to 10 pm at its home at 1300 East 1st Street, Boyle Heights 90033.
Master of ceremonies is Monique Marvez, Juan's Restaurante is catering, GomezComesAlives! will be making music and Camabalache will perform, Attendees will mingle, hug, shout, eat and dance.
Visionario sponsor Lexus is going all out. It's partnering with Self Help on a fitting project called "Moving Expressions", where two iconic artists -- Patssi Valdez and Jaime "Vyal" Reyes go at a Lexus CT200h with their arte skills and souls.
The completed Lexus CT200h will be displayed at the event. Can't wait to see it. I am going, ¿qué no?
