Dora will guide children and their families on travel adventures through an interactive exhibit, with the assistance of storytellers who will share information about exciting Amtrak destinations that are fun for the entire family.
National Train Day is a celebration of train travel and the many ways trains touch the lives of people throughout the country. This year's theme, See More On A Train, will highlight the unique perspective customers enjoy as they take in the beautiful sights and scenes of the American landscape while traveling by train.
"We are excited to have Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer join us for National Train Day in Los Angeles," said Emmett Fremaux, Amtrak Vice President, Marketing and Product Development. "Dora will both entertain and educate fans on the many exciting things that passengers will see and enjoy while traveling by train."
The colorful Ride-Along Amtrak Adventure exhibit will showcase the nation's beautiful landscape and feature various historical monuments bearing the Hispanic footprint on the Amtrak rail system. Dora will greet her fans, take photographs and share her travel adventures.
Emmy award-winning Dora the Explorer is a play-along, animated adventure series starring Dora, a seven-year-old bilingual Latina heroine whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests.
Dora explores her world just as preschoolers do every day, and the show is designed to actively engage its audience in an interactive quest using a variety of learning techniques. Dora is proudly bilingual and uses her knowledge of English and Spanish to communicate with her friends, overcome obstacles and reach her goals. In each episode, Dora teaches a Spanish word or phrase to the viewers and then asks them to use it to solve a problem and forge ahead. Dora the Explorer is currently in its seventh season on Nickelodeon and remains one of the top preschool shows on TV after over 11 years on the air.
In addition to Los Angeles, other signature National Train Day celebrations will be held in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. Activities will include model train displays, culinary demonstrations, book signings, kids' depot and the "See More Store" featuring National Train Day memorabilia along with other exciting festivities for the entire family.
