The ZEISS Online Vision Screening Check was developed by Carl Zeiss Vision. It provides information about your current visual acuity, contrast vision, and assesses your color vision. All three components are essential parameters used to evaluate your visual performance. Detailed instructions help you to adjust your monitor to the right settings to ensure the vision test is performed properly: Screen calibration, gamma calibration (brightness) and distance from the monitor.
The test begins by assessing your visual acuity. What is commonly known as sharpness of vision is the ability to perceive small patterns and structures in high contrast conditions. To measure visual acuity, the ZEISS Online Vision Screening Check uses a rotating "E" whose size changes. You are asked to use the arrow keys to indicate what direction the "E" is pointing. The first test results are ready in a few seconds. After each of the three tests, there is a short interim report that gives you information about your vision performance in each of the three categories. In addition, patients also get an idea of how they could see with the right eyeglass lenses: 'sharp vision' is visualized for patients through two eyeglass lenses. The test continues with assessment of contrast vision. This is important in changing light conditions. The ZEISS Online Vision Screening Check uses a rotating "C" with different contrast values to check your contrast vision. Again patients are asked to use the arrow keys to enter the "open side" of the "C". The third test provides information about potential color visual deficiencies. Red, blue, and green are tested. The test result is positive if the opening of the "C" is not properly determined.
Remember, the first step is having an eye exam on a regular basis. The Online Vision Screening is not a replacement for a professional eye exam by an optician or ophthalmologist but the results can indicate whether a professional eye exam performed by an optician or ophthalmologist is necessary or even urgent. The integrated optician finder provides the closest opticians to the address entered.
