Research shows that an active father figure can have a positive impact on the child's physical, behavioral and emotional development. Simultaneously, fathers who are more involved tend to raise children who have higher test scores and greater career success.
To promote and encourage present father figure's in children's lives, First 5 LA, an organization that funds healthcare, education and child development programs for children 0-5 and their families in L.A. County has launched it's most recent campaign titled A Father Really Matters to promotes the importance of fatherhood/male involvement and empower dads to take a more active role in order to make a positive, long-term impact in their children's lives.
The organization recently held the Dads and Family Day at the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools campus on May 18, that provided dads and families with entertainment and educational opportunities in the areas of literacy and education, health and nutrition, creativity and discovery, fitness and physical activity, as well as the opportunity to meet professional sports figures like Jorge Jarr?¡n from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Carlos Alvarez from Chivas USA.
