Indio, the dark lager Mexican beer, revealed today the members of the newly established Colectivo Indio ÔÇô a group of artists influential amongst bicultural millennials 21 and older, who will collaborate with each other and the beer brand to showcase how they "Do Their Thing". The internationally-renowned collective, including Amandititita, Gil Cerezo, Sofia Garza Barba, Edoardo Chavarin, Diana Garcia and Miguel Hernandez, will produce videos, murals, illustrations and neon light installations through the fall of 2013.
"We hand-selected the members of Colectivo Indio based not only on their talent, but their ability to inspire their fans to be creative and express themselves through a variety of mediums," said Gustavo Guerra, brand director for Indio beer. "This program is just another way that Indio is encouraging consumers ÔÇô whether they're established artists or not ÔÇô to 'Do Their Thing'."
Specifically, Indio will be supporting the following artists as they each create a personal project:
ÔÇó Amandititita ÔÇô Singer & Songwriter (pictured)
Amandititita, best known as the "Queen of AnarCumbia", is set to release her new album on Oct. 6 and Indio will be on hand for the taping of the music video for her single "No Me Hallo" ("I Can't Find Myself"). The clip will follow Amandititita around Los Angeles and San Francisco, and in one scene she will meet the other members of Colectivo Indio in a bar.
ÔÇó Gil Cerezo ÔÇô DJ and Lead Singer for Kinky
As a DJ, Cerezo seeks to bring much more than just music to his gigs. With the help of Indio, he's designing a DJ booth that will serve as a canvas for 3D mapping light projections that will sync with the music he'll spin at upcoming events throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
ÔÇó Sofia Garza Barba ÔÇô Director, Writer & Producer
A renowned music video director in Mexico, Garza will be creating an original spot for Indio that infuses urban art and pop culture elements with the brand's "Do Your Thing" tagline. The clip will be showcased this fall across Indio's social media platforms.
ÔÇó Edoardo Chavarin ÔÇô Creative Director & Graphic Designer
Having designed work for big names in the music industry, Chavarin will transform his "random thoughts" into a collection of illustrations. His creations will reflect pop culture along with a dash of Mexican flavors that characterize his personal aesthetic, and will be exhibited to the public in fellow Colectivo Indio member Miguel Hernandez' De la Barracuda shop in Los Angeles.
ÔÇó Diana Garcia ÔÇô Artist
Acclaimed as a rising actress and model in Mexico, Garcia is also a muralist with installations in Austin and So. Cal. Her newest 9' x 19' mural, "Another Kind of Sunrise", currently graces Venice, Calif., and is part of her Colectivo Indio collaborations. In collaboration with Indio, the mural was designed by Garcia herself and Incubus singer Brandon Boyd helped bring it to life.
ÔÇóMiguel Hernandez ÔÇô Artist & Shop Owner
With his eye for design and aesthetic lighting, Hernandez will create a series of neon light installations that express his personal cultural remix of Mexico City and Los Angeles. Fans will be able to check them out at Hernandez' shop De la Barracuda in Los Angeles.
All of the Colectivo Indio work will be launching this fall. In the meantime, consumers 21 and older who like Facebook.com/IndioBeer and follow the hashtag #ColectivoIndio will be treated to behind-the-scenes photos and videos as the artists complete them.
