Caf?® Bustelo has partnered with the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement(HACE) for the inaugural El Caf?® del Futuro Scholarship Essay Contest, where eligible students can enter for a chance to win one of nine $5,000 college scholarships.
The inspiration behind the El Caf?® del Futuro campaign stems from the desire to support the communities that have used Caf?® Bustelo coffee as a staple in their homes for decades. Caf?® Bustelo is pleased to partner with HACE, an organization that believes in championing those same communities.
To be eligible, students must be:
?À Age 18 or older and of Latino decent
?À Currently enrolled full-time at a participating college listed in the Official Rules
?À Permanent and legal residents of Cook County (Chicago, Illinois area), Harris County (Houston, Texas area) or Los Angeles County or Orange County (Los Angeles, California area).
To enter the El Caf?® del Futuro Scholarship Essay Contest, students should complete all requirements in the online application on the HACE website and, in 800 words or less, write an essay in English or Spanish responding to the following topic:
?À Describe how your Latino heritage, family, and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree. Additionally, describe what you intend to accomplish with your degree and how you will give back to your community.
The essay should be submitted on the contest website along with a letter of recommendation and official proof of current enrollment and registration from the college or university being attended. The essays and recommendation letters will be judged by a qualified panel of judges and assigned points based on the following criteria and point system:
?À Connection to theme/subject matter (How your Latino heritage, family and the community in which you grew up have impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree) (one to 40 points)
?À Plans for future accomplishments (one to 20 points)
?À Plans to give back to your community (one to 20 points)
?À Quality of writing and clear articulation of thoughts and concepts (one to 10 points)
?À Strength of recommendation letter (one to 10 points)
