TurboTax SnapTax, the first full tax preparation mobile app, is now available for the 2014 tax season in Spanish. Developed specifically for the 52 million Hispanic Americans, SnapTax, from TurboTax maker Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), is fast, easy and convenient,
Ideal for taxpayers with simple tax returns (1040EZ/A), SnapTax lets users securely snap a photo of their W-2 with their mobile phone or tablet and then, using optical character recognition (OCR) technology, automatically puts the information on the right place in their tax return. Taxpayers then answer a few simple questions, review their return and tap "File My Taxes" to electronically file their taxes in as few as 10 minutes.
New this year, SnapTax lets taxpayers prepare and e-file their 2013 taxes entirely in Spanish or, with a quick tap in the settings menu, switch between English and Spanish as they progress through their tax return. Bilingual consumers will continue to have direct access to English- and Spanish-speaking agents and experts by phone that can provide answers to commonly-asked questions in their language of choice.
According to the Pew Research Center, about half (49%) of U.S. Hispanic adults own a smartphone and at least 34 percent own a tablet, making mobile tax preparation an easy, convenient option.
"We recognize that uncertainty and fear of not understanding the tax-filing process cause millions of Hispanics to doubt that they can prepare their own simple tax return. No one should have to pay $100 or more at the leading tax store to get their taxes done ÔÇô especially those with a simple return," said Greg Johnson, vice president of marketing for Intuit TurboTax. "Our SnapTax app makes it easy for hard-working U.S. Hispanics to file their taxes in the language of choice, putting the ease, accuracy and money-saving power of TurboTax into the hands of the fastest growing demographic group in the U.S."
With SnapTax, taxpayers can prepare and e-file a federal return for free. SnapTax is available on the App Store, Google Play Marketplace, Amazon.com and at SnapTax.com
