Covered California Enrollment Event at Olvera Street

With only 13 days left for the March 31st deadline of applying for Covered California, COFEM and many other health organizations are joining efforts in this last push to educate and assist those who need help enrolling into a health plan.

According to Peter Lee, Executive Director of Covered California until the end of February only 153,561 Latinos were registered in Covered California, this represents 22% of all eligible Latinos.

The idea of organizing events like this one that COFEM is hosting is to help increase the number of people registered by the deadline of March 31.

The Covered California Enrollment Event has been organized because COFEM, Health Net, Covered California, Bienestar, Chinatown Service and Community Health Center, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, and LA CARE Health Plan see the urgency in educating everyone. There is still a lack of information within the Latino community and this unique event will be full of resources and people will be going home with a health insurance plan.

Important information will be provided about Covered California, Medicare for the elderly, assistance to qualify for Medical and other important resources.

Through our community outreach efforts COFEM has seen the lack of information specifically for Deferred Action recipients and for the Temporary Protective Status (TPS) community therefore this event will target this audience.

WHEN: March 22, 2014 at 9:00 A.M.

WHERE: COFEM Gallery located at 849 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA 90012 (near Mr. Churro in the Breezeway Gallery at Olvera Street).
