Edgy, Expressive & Empowered - New Artist Squinkla

Commanding the microphone with free-styling prowess and a five-alarm personality, Squinkla delivers narratives in tune with propulsive beats and fresh tracks. Versatility is a trademark; she has been showcased as a featured guest in a variety of genres, from EDM to rock.

A first-generation Salvadorian-American, Squinkla was discovered by Silent Giant's Edward "E-Dub" Rios and Khool-Aid when she created her profile on pocosperolocos.fm "I saw a lot of potential in Squinkla when I heard her voice delivery and ability to feel free to execute 'Off the wall' concepts," says E-Dub.

Squinkla connected to sanctified sounds while singing in the church choir at age 11, but she didn't stay long. Music was all around: Her older brother ÔÇô a break dancer and tagger ÔÇô introduced her to break beats, free style and house, and her sister listened to Tupac Shakur and Bones, Thugs & Harmony. She fell asleep to romantic Mexican ballads and oldies, courtesy of her mom. She began penning her own lyrics.

She invented the larger-than-life persona of Squinkla to represent "my inner child who never lost her innocence; who doesn't take everything so seriously, and loves to have fun." But within the lyrics are hard-won truths to reflect Squinkla's journey from the streets to the stage. Her life-changing experience consisted of a mixture of negative things that has led her to believe that "true changes come from within." "It wasn't always laughter," she says. "There was pain. I've been through a lot. Now, I'm becoming happy and confidant. And I had to go through everything to get here."

Squinkla's biggest influences include 2PAC, Andre Nikatina, Atrud Gilberto, The Doors, Aaliyah and, TLC and No Doubt. She would love to see herself do a duet one day with Gwen Stephani, TLC or Tyga.

Her latest single "Chocomil" is co-produced by E-Dub and Javie Lopez (B-Real of Cypress Hill, Baby Bash, Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm), with additional production by Kevin Randolph (Jay-Z, Rick Ross, French Montana). It features Kaptn, artist on Da Internz's (Justin Beiber, Big Sean, Nas, Rhinna) Write Ya Life label.

Squinkla is set apart from the rest in the sense that she doesn't follow the standard "keep it real" mentality, that the majority of other artists in her genre are confined to . This allows her to express herself with no boundaries and explore concepts, moods and visuals that most artists would not touch. She is also involved with non-profit organizations such as Silicon Valley De-Bug & M.A.I.Z. She hopes to one day collaborate with the Beat Within and HomeBoy/HomeGirl Industries.

She also sees herself in the future ghost writing, doing more television, and possibly working with at risk youth; teaching writing workshops & doing motivational speaking.
This strong minded and good hearted individual is definitely on the rise. Her current single available on iTunes "Chocomil" defines Squinkla perfectly; "Sassiness, comedy and culture all in one!"
