Cesar Chavez was a revolutionary Civil Rights activist and an amazing man that brought forth change.
Born March 31, 1927 to Mexican parent's in Yuma Arizona.
As an adolescent he worked in the fields with his family. He saw a lot of injustice and inequality against the farm workers.
It left a very impressionable memory and when he grew up he met Fred Ross and volunteered for his organization, where he learned how to organize people. He wet back to the fields to educate, and unite the farm workers. To bring change in low wages and poor working conditions. It was not an easy job he moved his entire family to Deleno California in 1962.
It was with great obstacles that he managed to Unite the people open up a Credit Union and form a Union know today as the United Farm Workers of America.
He believed and practiced non violent tactics by fasting, protesting, marching and boycotts.
And believed in the power of UNITY.
Many people opposed Cesar Chavez and the Farm Workers they organized, united and started a boycott against the grape growers. That lasted five years. But with the support of other Union's, churches, student, donations and Senator Robert Kennedy he stood his ground and brought the growers to their knees, by affecting their profits.
Cesar Chavez and the farm workers were persecuted, beaten, shot at, sprayed with pesticides and thrown in Jail in the process.
He even went to Europe to protest and boycott grapes being imported into Europe.
The Grower's finally broke down and gave into the demands of Cesar Chaves and the farm workers.
Better pay and better working conditions.
Cesar Chavez has made an everlasting Impression in the history of a labor movement.
Cesar Chavez died in his sleep on April 23, 1993 in San Luis Arizona
But his legacy will live forever as a Hero in American History.
