LAteria: A Loteria Game Celebrating Chicanos in Los Angeles

Growing up in a Chicano household you are most likely familiar with Loteria, or as it's also called Mexican Bingo. It's bingo, but instead of numbers it's images, and for Chicano's it's more than just a game but a link to our cultural heritage.

The husband and wife artists behind Amor Por Vida love Los Angeles and Loteria. Over the years the Montejo family have collected different versions of the game like the Star Wars or Dia de Los Muertos versions, but never found a version specific to Los Angeles.

Because the artists wanted to play a Loteria about Los Angeles they created LAteria.

The Montejo family have illustrated the game including some of the most iconic Latino images of our culture and beloved city. Cheech Marin, Cesar Chavez, tostilocos, lowriders, and El Municipo (L.A. City Hall) are just a few of the people, places and foods that are included in the game.

Now that the artwork is completed, the Montejo family has taken to the crowdfunding website Kickstarter to help fund the manufacturing of the first run of LAteria. Please support them by funding the game or like them on Facebook.
