Love Star is a Los Angeles-based electro-rock duo formed in 2009 by vocalist and keyboardist Starla (Adriana Fernandez) and lead guitarist The Doctor (Will Alves). Love Star's bi-cultural background, bi-lingual lyrics and colorful style make the band standout, both musically and visually. People En Espa??ol Magazine described the duo's music as, "retro alternative pop that refuses to be blue."
On December 13th, Love Star launches its sophomore album "Espectro: Chapter 1," a 4 song EP that is part of a full album produced and mixed by 16-time GRAMMY winning producer Thom Russo (Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, and Man?í). The full album titled "Espectro" will be released in three chapters, or EPs, before the full-length hits the stores. "Espectro" is an 11-song drama that encompasses the full spectrum (or espectro) of life's interactions and relationships... love, heartache, break-ups, and everything in between. "The stories told in the songs are real-life experiences," explains Adriana. There is even a Spanish electro-punk version of Blondie's hit "Call Me" ("Ll?ímame"), which fits right into the theme.
Love Star is a creative independent band that promotes its music in a big way. "We're going to be releasing a video for each track on the 'Espectro' album," asserted lead guitarist Will. So far Love Star has released two of the eleven videos it will be producing. The latest video "Respirar" (Breathe) premiered on LATV in October, and has received great feedback from fans. It was directed by Will, and filmed in various locations, including the Grand Canyon; Mojave Desert; Arizona; Washington DC; and Downtown Los Angeles. The "Respirar" Video is available on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/95uS7zLfDd0?list=PL49imC8n8o1lFSYDZ3yTwRdm2yudwHNFK. Prior to "Respirar," the animated video "Busco" (Searching) was a hit on Love Star's YouTube channel, as evidenced by the 121,000 views to date!
Love Star will be celebrating the release "Espectro: Chapter 1" EP in style with a glow in the dark launch party and concert on December 13th, at 8:00 p.m. at Los Globos, located at 3040 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026. It's a free event, and wearing neon is encouraged!
