With only 18 days left for the February 15th deadline of applying for Covered California, COFEM and many other health organizations are joining force in this push to educate and assist those who need help enrolling into a health plan.
The idea of organizing events like this one that COFEM is hosting is to help increase the number of people registered by the deadline of February 15.
The Health and Cultural Event has been organized because COFEM, Covered California, El Pueblo Historical Monument, Health Net, Chinatown Service and Community Health Center, Blue Shield of California, Anthem Blue Cross, AltaMed, Arroyo Vista Family Health Center, LA Care Health Plan, Vision y Compromiso and GOYA see the urgency in educating everyone.
There is still a lack of information within the Latino community and this unique event will be full of resources and people will be going home with a health insurance plan. Important information will be provided about Covered California, Medicare for the elderly, assistance to qualify for Medi-Cal and other important resources.
Through our community outreach efforts COFEM has seen the lack of information specifically for Deferred Action recipients and for the Temporary Protective Status (TPS) community therefore this event will target this audience as well.
It's taking place on February 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M.- 4 P.M. at the Pico HOUSE located in historic El Pueblo / Olvera Street, 424 North Main Street, Los Angeles CA 90012
The Council of Mexican Federations in North America (COFEM) serves diverse immigrant communities. COFEM's mission embraces a community centered approach to promote the advancement of the Latino community through public policy advocacy, community organizing, leadership and organizational development, educational and cultural programming, and bi-national productive projects.
