In a unique musical contest where talented independent musicians will be taken to the finals mainly through the support of fans, Verizon Wireless and Cookman/Nacional Records announced the list of 30 participants in the M??sica Unsigned contest, an initiative created to support local independent artists and their music using mobile technology.
Among Southern California performers fans can help propel to the top for a chance to win a recording session with a Grammy Award-winning producer are 16 artists and bands from the local area. The public can begin voting to help them make it to top five-ranking M??sica Unsigned artists beginning today at www.musicaunsigned.com.
To help the participants promote their music during the contest's public voting phase now through April 16, 2015, each of the 30 performers will receive a Verizon Toolkit. The Toolkit, consisting of an HD camera, a tablet, Verizon Jetpack hotspot and promotion guidelines, will be utilized by all artists to create promotional elements to share with the public for votes on M??sica Unsigned's website and social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
An array of artist and band content can be found on the site including behind-the-scenes videos, photos and upcoming appearances.
During the voting period, the general public may cast a vote online at www.musicaunsigned.com. in addition to "sharing" an additional vote on Facebook or Twitter for a particular performer. All votes shared on social media must include the website musicaunsigned.com. and the following hashtags #M??sicaUnsigned and the participant's hashtag.
The five acts that generate the most public votes at the close of the public voting period on April 16, 2015 will become the contest finalists and be eligible for selection as the Grand Prize winner. Verizon Wireless, Cookman/Nacional Records and a panel of judges will select the winner from the five finalists chosen by the general public. The M??sica Unsigned winner will be notified on or about April 20, 2015.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a two-day recording session at ZapBoomBang studios in Houston, TX, produced by an Award-winning producer in spring 2015.
