LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference) Announces Lineup


LAMC (Latin Alternative Music Conference) announced the lineup for its July 10th show at Celebrate Brooklyn! at Prospect Park featuring Bajofondo, Los Autenticos Decadentes and Astro. This joins the lineup for the conference's Central Park SummerStage shows which include performances by Vicentico, Ximena Sari??ana, Our Latin Thing, Compass, Systema Solar, No Te Va Gustar, Helado Negro and DJ Afro. Ruido Fest announced the lineup for its inaugural edition taking place July 10th-12th in Chicago. Lila Downs has partnered with Amnesty International to support the Mexico City opening of the organization's first "Regional Human Rights Center". Downs will perform on May 8th with Sa??l Hern?índez and Mariana Vega as part of a week-long program of cultural events and debates on human rights in the Americas.


Republican 2016 presidential hopeful Jeb Bush said in Miami on Sunday that the "Latino vote can make a difference" in the election in key states including Florida, Colorado and New Mexico. Bush will travel to Puerto Rico on Tuesday for conferences and to meet Republican supporters on the island.

Pepsi will launch Pepsi Limon, a new soft drink made with real cane sugar and lime juice, aimed at Hispanics. Pepsi Limon will hit stores in Chicago, California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas on May 18th.


Newly discovered Chilesaurus diegosuarezi, a 145-million-year-old dinosaur and the first from the Jurassic period discovered in Chile, is "one of the strangest found so far" and amounts to an "evolutionary puzzle," one of the researchers who found the dinosaur's fossil told Efe. The dinosaur was found in 2004 near General Carrera Lake in the southern Chilean region of Aysen by Diego Suarez, the 7-year-old son of Chilean geologists.


A fire broke out this week on a Spanish ferry from Mallorca, forcing over 150 passengers and crew to abandon ship. Spanish media reports that at least three people were injured, with one in serious condition.

The New York Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and the Theatrical Teamsters Local 817, in partnership with the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, presented three local organizations, El Puente, Socrates Sculpture Park and Urban Arts Partnership, with "Made in NY" community grants of $50,000.

Azteca America announced that it has signed an affiliate agreement with KDKJ, to be broadcast in Tyler/Longview, Texas. The station will carry Azteca America's programming, including news, entertainment, novelas and sports programming, as well as the network's popular "Viernes Futbolero" franchise. This new addition expands Azteca America's network to 64 stations, 27 of which are operated by Azteca America.
