Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is observed each year on the last Monday of May. One of the first official Memorial Day proclamations was made in 1868 by Gen. John Logan, who was serving as commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. This began the tradition of placing flowers on the graves of all the Union and Confederate service members at Arlington National Cemetery.
The first 40 volunteers to RSVP will be provided lunch and transportation by bus to Riverside National Cemetery. The bus will pick up passengers at 11:30 a.m. at the campus's turn-around. Pre-registration is required. RSVP to Jaime Espinoza at (909) 537-5195 or email email@example.com .
Cal State San Bernardino will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25. Classes will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
