SOLEDAD, starring critically acclaimed newcomer Jesse Celedon, will have its West Coast premiere Sunday, May 31 at 9:30pm at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. SOLEDAD will be in competition for the Narrative Film Feature award as part of the Dances with Films Festival.
There will be a Q & A with co-writers/directors/producers Eduardo Maytorena & Wayne Mitchell, executive producer Douglas Bravo and the stars of the film, Jesse Celedon, Montanna Gillis, Chase Austin, Chris Petrovski and Natt Leone immediately following the screening.
17 years after moving to Los Angeles, Celedon makes his acting debut in SOLEDAD. After living in Hollywood during the late 90's, Jesse made the decision to move to Bakersfield and commit his life to helping disadvantaged kids abandoned by their parents and supported by the state. Currently he owns and operates a group home for boys. Jesse's desire to act never dissipated throughout the years and inspired Eduardo & Wayne to write SOLEDAD as a testament to his talents, and as a love letter to one of their coolest friends. Prior to filming, Jesse studied at the Stella Adler Academy.
In SOLEDAD, Victor (Jesse Celedon) has a past that he'd like to leave behind. Fortunately, in Los Angeles, anonymity isn't hard to come by. In this town if you're not a celebrity then you're meant to be ignored. This is where we find Victor. A lonely limousine driver who spends his life driving from one location to another. A middleman for anyone willing to pay. Like the tens of thousands employed in the periphery of LA's service industry--the more invisible the better.
Tonight becomes something different though. Tonight Victor picks up Raquel (Montanna Gillis). A refreshing breath of fresh air amongst Victor's usual stale clientele. A beautiful young lady dressed to go to the ball. The only problem now being her prom date, Preston, Victor's employer. A spoiled child of means that lives high in the hills but talks like he's hood. Nothing new for any driver. Limos and douche-bags go together like night-clubs and roofies. When people get in the back seats of limousines, their true character comes out, and some people only feel like Kings when they're stepping on Pawns. Any other night, it might have played out differently; but breaths of fresh air don't come around too often. And when some lines get crossed, they can't be uncrossed.
SOLEDAD tells the story of an unlikely friendship that develops after an act of compassion sets off a series of events--destined to change the lives of everyone involved. Iconic landmarks including the Hollywood Bowl Overlook, Midnight Rollerway in Glendale, The Odyssey and A Mi Hacienda restaurants, as well as Mulholland Drive, Ventura Boulevard, Griffith Park, Echo Park and Silverlake serve as backdrops for a road-trip adventure through the heart of Los Angeles that reminds us that the thing about memories is, you have to have the experiences first.
Created and produced by a team of first-time film-makers; the cast and crew came together to make the type of independent feature film they've always dreamed of. Shot throughout the city of Los Angeles with the RED Mysterium, over 14 nights and 3 days; SOLEDAD is a testament to a lifelong friendship between the star, (Jesse Celedon) and film-makers (Eduardo Maytorena & Wayne Mitchell) culminating into an original movie experience only the three of them could have made.
