It's About Time!

I love music, that's no secret. Especially Chicano-style Oldies but Goodies.

Like a lot of Gente, I go near and far to find it, hear it, see it, dance to it, and many times, buy it. As a mobile DJ, I get to play it for people to dance to. As an Internet Radio DJ, I get to play it and share it with the World. As a music lover and writer, I go to live performances of some of my favorite groups, and borlear (dance & party) with the best of them.

I have always met good people in my music quest, a certain type of person that appreciates the music as much as I do. No kids, but no incapacitated senior citizens, either. Firme Gente.

It is becoming increasingly better as Oldies concerts are happening more often in Southern California. Only problem is, you have to travel to the East Side to hear one group, Hollywood to hear another group, Orange County for another group, and so on. I wish things were different, but that's the way it is. You go where the music's at, baby!

But now, one of my wishes has come true. Finally, somebody has put together a show featuring the cream of Chicano music, in one place, at one time. I'm not talking hip-hop, rock n' espanol, merengue, rancheras, salsa, quebradita, mariachi, banda , or hip hip & rap in espa?ol. I'm talking true to life, soul awakening, love encouraging, carnalismo promoting, get-off-your-ass-and-on-the-dance-floor Chicano Rock n' Soul, in English, performed by some of the best Artists in Aztlan.

OUR kind of music! ?Orale! Eat your heart out, Telemundo! This one ain't on you! (No hay pedo, pues!)

Jill Sewel and Santos Chacon of the joint venture Cazmere Limousines/Inland Recording Studios of the Inland Empire, have embarked upon a dream concert that becomes a reality on Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in Downtown San Bernardino, California. This is one that excites me, as over 10,000 Gente from all over Aztlan are expected to be there. A Chicano Oldies concert the likes that has not been seen before. We're talking more than 8 hours of the finest music available to the Gente featuring:

TIERRA - Southern California's ever popular Chicano funk/oldies/latin soul group that is the only Chicano group ever to play at New York's famed Carnigie Hall. Nationally enjoyed for over 30 years, TIERRA is like fine wine, SOOOOO much better with time!

THEE MIDNITERS with special guest LIL WILLIE G (pictured)- One of the first and finest Chicano Rock n' Roll groups out of East L.A., and one that has recorded numerous classic favorites that have remained favorites for more than 3 generations of Gente! This performance alone is one you don't want to miss!

The EAST L.A. REVUE with special guests THE PREMIERS - Currently one of the most sought after and popular Chicano Rock n Roll/Oldies groups in L.A.- staying true to the "East Side Sound", this group's music has been some of the most requested on the 2nd Time Around Show!

EL CHICANO - The group that put L.A. style Latin Jazz on the map.

MARK GUERRERO & RADIO AZTLAN - One of the most talented Chicano composers and song writers in Aztlan, Mark and his group Radio Aztlan will rock the house with his classic low-riding rock n roll.

THE BEST OF EVERYTHING and CALDRON - By popular demand, THEE Inland Empires' favorite Chicano Oldies/Rock n Soul groups, known for their energetic and vibrant performances, bringing it back and keeping it alive for the Gente of The Inland Empire and all of Southern California!

MASTER of CEREMONIES - Midniter/Cold Duck Great HANK CASTRO- The Chicano Prince of Funk, Footwork and Finesse will be Host and Master of Ceremonies, and possibly performing on stage with all the talent of the day!

Food, refreshments, CD's, t-shirts and other memorabilia will be made available along with other vendors including:

Ruben Molina - Nationally acclaimed author of the bestseller "The Old Barrio Guide to Lowrider Music" will be on hand to sign his book.

David Torres and Tom Waldeman - Authors of the best selling book, "Land of 1000 Dances", will be on hand to sign their book and will be filming footage for the movie of the same name. Be a part of Chicano Rock n Roll history.

Yes indeed, Jill and Santos have put together a dream concert & festival. As successful entrepreneurs of the Limousine and Recording Studio business for several years, they were guests on my show last Thursday and enthusiastically promoted this show. "We thought of this a long time ago, and since nobody else has done it, we decided to do it for the Gente!", Jill told me. Promoter/Producer Steven Chavez is credited for his deep involvement. The city of San Bernardino is also generously involved with this project, and local businesses are assuring plenty of accomodations for all attending.

Break out the shades and cruise to beautiful Verdugo, where the Gente promises to make you feel welcome, and YOU KNOW the music will be good!

8 hours of it. See you there, Mi Gente! Let's party down!
