The Klub Gymnastics, a Silver Lake-based children's gymnastic center, held a Kartwheel-A-Thon to benefit The Special Olympics World Games 2015.
Students were pledged donations per cartwheel than had five minutes to complete as many as possible. The initial goal was to raise $2500, which is the amount needed to sponsor a single athlete.
As a result of the students hard work and their families generosity, $13,109.70 was raised, allowing the sponsorship of five athletes.
Three of the five athletes being sponsored are Latin American. Edson Martinez and Kendall Aguilar are both from Costa Rica, and Daiana Casella is from Uruguay. They will all be competing in the gymnastics portion of the World Games at UCLA from July 25th - August 2nd.
