Spanish rock band Sombra (website: http://www.sombrarock.com) will be headlining the first ever night of Latin rock at The Gig on Wednesday November 19. The show will feature five acts including Legion from San Diego, Cabula, Moxi, and Morrison who?s band features ex-Voz De Manos members.
The Gig is a former theater that was turned into a rock club a few years ago. It is located on the trendy fashionable strip of Melrose in Hollywood. The L.A. Weekly has rated it best ?unsung? rock venue. Linkin Park and Michelle Branch both got signed after appearances at the popular club.
In a sign of rock alternativo?s growing influence on mainstream pop culture, The Gig is excited to invite Spanish rock to their stage. They may consider more Spanish rock shows in the future if this show demonstrates there is a demand for it. This is the first time a club in this section of Melrose has hosted a full night of Spanish rock and is just one more sign of the impact the rock alternativo scene is making.
Doors open at 8 PM, admission is free before 8:30 PM. The show starts at 8:30 promptly due to the number of bands that will be playing. Regular admission is $7, $5 with a postcard flyer that can be found at most Spanish rock events in the weeks prior to the show.
