A Discovery in Woodland Hills: Xoc Tequila Grill

Not too long ago, Neal and I were taking a stroll in The Village at Westfield Topanga in Woodland Hills, when we decided to stop for a drink. Looking around we came upon an inviting restaurant with an intriguing name: Xoc Tequila Grill.

As we sat at the bar to take advantage of the "Happy Hour" a friendly bartender handed us some menus. The items were conspicuously familiar. So I asked: "Are you affiliated with Frida at the American in Glendale?"

"Yes we are" - said the friendly barkeep - "It's the same owner, and the same head chef!"

Having grown up in Mexico City, with a mother who could put any gourmet chef to shame, I am very picky when it comes to food, particularly Mexican.

Oh happy day! When Neal and I found Frida at the Americana several years ago, I thought I had struck culinary gold! And now here we were, finding another place where we could enjoy the same extraordinary food, delicious appetizers, the best "Happy Hour", which incidentally is available every day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and the friendly service we have become accustomed to enjoying!

Xoc Tequila Grill's atmosphere caters to a slightly different clientele, but the food and outstanding service makes it an instant favorite of mine!

So the next time you're in the mood for authentic Mexican cuisine, stop by Xoc Tequila Grill. Be sure to try the table side guacamole, prepared to your specifications right before your eyes; the fish tacos and tostada salad are also some of my favorites. Don't forget the margaritas, and if you dare, I also recommend the tequila flight!

Xoc Tequila Grill is located on 6316 N. Topanga Cyn. Blvd. in Woodland Hills. You can call for reservations at 818-992-7930.

Tell them Edie J. sent you!
