In addition to celebrations honoring Person of the Year Marc Anthony, Latin Grammy week was abuzz with pre-events and star-studded guest lists. Verizon hosted a special VIP pre-party in Las Vegas before the Latin Grammy Awards from Monday, November 14 to Wednesday, November 16. Music, food and fashion fans were able to follow along through social media to stay connected through the experience. Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos, one of Latin America's best chefs of 2016, was among those in attendance.
Latin music's biggest night of the year wouldn't be complete without the stars hitting the Red Carpet. Chef Barrientos (@JuanmaElCielo) and beauty vlogger Yasmin Maya (@Beautyybird) (pictured) both shined for the cameras and for their fans thanks to Verizon's Stop Motion station on the official Latin Grammy red carpet.
Maya was thrilled to be part of the Grammy festivities, and Barrientos shared why his culture and deep family connections are important to him. "Being a chef, I travel between Bogota, Miami and all over the world and often times I miss home and my family," Barrientos said. "The beauty of Colombian food is that it gives me a taste of home and keeps me culturally connected, but sometimes it's simply not enough and I need those physical touch points and just to hear my family's voices. I trust Verizon for that. Verizon is the best! And their prepaid option makes it easier to have their service when I travel to the United States."
Barrientos is a Colombian chef and businessman. He is the founder of the El Cielo restaurants with locations in Miami, Medellín and Bogotá. Barrientos has been named one of the 50 best chefs of Latin America with over 500k followers combined on his social media channels.
Maya is a bilingual beauty vlogger best known for her dual-language YouTube channels BeautyyBird and PajaritaBella. At only 24 years old, she has amassed a following of over 1.4 million.
The 17th Latin Grammy aired on Sunday, November 20 on Univision.
