Anti-Mall in Solidarity With Standing Rock and SoCentralFarm

The Anti-Mall is a free & family friendly marketplace & fest started over 15 years ago, by local SoCal artist and organizers, with the goal of connecting people to products, services and resources that are in line with their political, moral and spiritual views. We are a sweatshop-free, volunteer run organization with a goal of promoting Conscious Consuming in this "throw-away" culture. Starting this winter, we will also be highlighting and prioritizing vendors that use more sustainable practices, like; upcycling, repurposing, chemical free, and other more green and sustainable practices.

We coined the term 'ARTivist', and are still one of the only winter marketplaces that requires all vendors to be involved in their communities betterment. Our participating ARTivist, Cooperatives and Socially Conscious Businesses are active in their communities in soo many amazing ways; From mentoring a child, To donating their work/labor to amazing organizations and projects, And more recently some have even traveled to North Dakota to stand in solidarity with the movement against the pipeline and to defend the sacred.

Inspired by the movements around the globe to protect the air, land, water and life; especially the "Water Protectors" in North Dakota and the "Land Protectors" of the South Central Farm, we are focusing this Anti-Mall, and all that follow, on being in better balance with MOTHER EARTH & challenging ourselves to consume less and consume smarter.

Going in line with making Mother Earth a priority, we've also incorporated a couple of new sections to the Anti-Mall that we're really excited to share with you, aside from our over 50 amazing vendors.

"Dare to Repair" & "Share & Trade" were created with the idea that we could come together and exchange information, resources, support and ideas without necessarily exchange currency AND it's a concrete way to not produce more trash and help us sustain our environment.

'Dare to Repair": basic Car maintenance and useful maintenance info & basics

Bike repair'Share & Trade': a space to drop off, pick up, exchange everything from clothes fix your own Clothes & Shoes to vinyl, to school supplies

Our Edutainment will range from amazing Pow-Wow dancers to African Drummers, Powerful Poets & Speakers and special guests that will inform and inspire us. Our Anti-Mall MCs this winter will be Larry Smith (kpfk's American Indian Airwaves) and George Funmaker (whose family, on his mother's side, is from North Dakota, and has been very active in the noDAPL struggle).

- There was a win at Standing Rock, but the fight is not over. The pipeline still needs to be stopped.

- Also, did you know that the South Central Farmers are ready to buy back the land on 41st and Alameda (once the larger urban garden in the nation), but need our support to make it happen. They've been working hard these past 10 years, since being kicked out of the land, and have grown their CSA program as well as provide organic produce at local Farmers Markets.

Please join us and get updated on Standing Rock and the South Central Farm, Get your Winter Solstice gifts, or do no shopping at all and enjoy the workshops, edutainment and community love.
