LATINA Style Names GM 8th Best Company for Latinas

Latina Style, Inc. ranked General Motors as the eighth best company for Latinas in the United States. The LATINA Style 50 Report is a national ranking of companies based on policies and practices promoting the needs and aspirations of Latinas in the workplace.

In its 19th year, The LATINA Style top 50 report identifies corporations providing the best career opportunities for Latinas in the country. The report results from a search and evaluation of prominent U.S. companies on matters important to the publication's readers, including career opportunities, retention, employee benefits, mentoring and educational opportunities.

"General Motors is proud to receive these important recognitions from LATINA Style," said GM Global Chief Diversity Officer Ken Barrett. "They are a testament to GM's commitment to Latinas in the workplace. Their direct contributions and hands-on leadership truly help drive diversity forward and continue to position GM as an industry leader for both talent and markets."

This marks the 16th time GM has been recognized since the list launched in 1997.

In addition to the top 8th workplace, LATINA Style, Inc. recognized GM's Hispanic Initiative Team for exceptional leadership in living the GM values through its mission of recruiting, retaining and developing Hispanic employees. The group actively engages in the community and strives to make GM a workplace of choice for Latinos.

Laura Hernandez-Romine, Director of Global Media, Branded Entertainment & Diversity Marketing, was also recognized as one of the 2016 Top 10 Corporate Latina Executives of the Year.

"Selecting the top 50 companies for Latinas to work for is a difficult task," says Robert E. Bard, president and CEO, LATINA Style, Inc. "Great efforts are taken to ensure Latinas can find best places to nurture their careers. Our goal is to provide the most accurate picture of what corporate America has to offer."

The annual awards ceremony honoring the LATINA Style 50 companies took place February 9, 2017 during LATINA Style's Diversity Leaders and Awards Conference in Washington, D.C.
