Singer, actress, designer and all-around diva, Jennifer Lopez, tops Entertainment Tonight?s ?Hot List? for 2003, knocking the previous reigning Jennifer, Mrs. Brad Pitt, to the #2 spot on the list.

Congrats to Don Francisco?s ?Sabado Gigante?, which has been certified by the 2003 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as the world?s longest running variety show.

Verizon Wireless has struck a deal with Warner Music Group for GRAMMY winner Alejandro Sanz?s music and images. Verizon customer s will have exclusive rights to downlowd Sanz?s music and images from the album ?No Es Lo Mismo?, and Verizon will be the title sponsor for Sanz?s US tour this year

ESPN Deportes, a new Spanish-language sports channel is debuting this Wednesday, 1/7 at 8:00 pm ET. To kick it all off, the station will be featuring the Dallas Mavericks vs. Golden State Warriors game at 9:00 pm ET, with a special half-time performance by singer/actress Roselyn Sanchez (Rush Hour 2, Chasing Papi). There is a new website, Micasaprestamos.com, developed to help Spanish speaking homebuyers locate Spanish speaking mortgage lenders across the country. The site will also feature info on how to buy a home, down payment assistance, credit counseling resources, and other important home buying info, which in turn the company hopes will increase Hispanic home ownership.

Next week, TotalAXIS is launching Flix @ Cinespace, a new monthly series in Los Angeles, showcasing the latest independent films in hopes of giving young, up and coming filmmakers a platform to have their films viewed. The series will feature a short Q&A or panel discussion following the movie. The first series takes place January 13th, and will feature the critically acclaimed film ?Pantaleon y Las Visitadoras. If you think that Mexican fast food is healthier than regular fast food such as McDonald?s ? think again. The Center for Science in the Public Interest agrees that grilled Mexican food can be healthier when it contains fresh chicken, seafood and vegetables-but it also has very high caloric, sodium and saturated fat content. For example, did you know that Baja Fresh's cheese quesadilla with guacamole, sour cream and salsa is comparable to eating three Quarter Pounders?

Ricky Martin is working on a tell-all autobiography, which will give fans an in-depth look into the singer?s personal and professional life. Although there won?t be any scandalous revelations in the book, Martin felt it was important to clear up the many untruths that have been written about him, as well as to share with his readers some of the more significant happenings in his life.

Mexican diva, Gloria Trevi, has great aspirations for 2004; she is hoping that this is the year when she can finally record another album and make a comeback to the stage. Oh yeah, she also wants to get out of jail (she is currently in a Mexican prison awaiting trial on charges of rape and the corruption of minors) and would like to be reunited with her son so they can be a family again.

The ?Skol Hip Hop Manifesta?, Brazil?s largest Hip Hop music festival, is facing serious criticism by the country?s leading artists of the genre. Many local artists are declining to participate, citing that the festival?s focus is commercially driven, inviting artists such as Snoop Dogg and Ja Rule, and not focused on advancing Brazilian Hip Hop to the people of the community, their primary audience.

LA Latin rock band, "Curanderos? will be releasing their 4th album, ?Evolucion Show? this January 20th. Be sure to support local musicians and pick up a copy.

After much heated protest by filmmakers, Mexico?s Congress has abandoned a controversial proposal headed by President Vicente Fox, calling for the sale or closure of Imcine, Churubusco Azteca and CCC, three government run entities that are crucial to the production of films in Mexico.

US immigration officers began fingerprinting and photographing foreign visitors required to have visas. The screening program is part of a new sophisticated security measure prompted by concerns of potential terrorist threats on foreign airliners, and will monitor those entering the country and how long they stay.

Looks like Mana will be taking a break in 2004. The band will not be performing or recording again until 2005. A spokesperson for the band stressed that there is no truth to the rumors of a break up, that the year long vacation was planned as a much needed rest for the artists to spend time with their families.

Legendary Cuban musician, Compay Segundo, was honored with a life-sized statue in his likeness, which was erected in Cuba?s historic Hotel Nacional last week. The late musician is best knows for his performance in the GRAMMY winning record ?The Buena Vista Social Club?.

Did you know that of the 38 million Latinos in the US, only 6 million voted in the 2000 Presidential Election? This could be why out of the 100 US senators, none are Hispanic, and only 20 of the 435 representatives in the lower house of Congress are Hispanic. Latinos ? let your voz be heard!

The 14th edition of Art Miami opens this Wednesday featuring examples of the latest trends in Latin American art. The festival runs for five days, with 19 Latin American galleries that will exhibit the latest works by artists from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

President Bush is developing a program that would allow immigrants to have easier access to work legally in the US. The plan would allow immigrants to legally cross the border if they already had jobs waiting for them in the US.
