With My Killer

Another song from a healing heart

With My Killer

Let me draw you from death
From a stale breath singed with an old man's curse
On a boxcar scarred by the desert and a thirst for rum
On wood planks with leather caught beneath splinters
With color taken from the eyes of grey-scaled cadavers
On a bed of sand covered in black footprints, trickled with sweat and rusted-out nails
Let me serenade you from death
With a casual voice that creeps into your ear
From beneath a harmony that trembles cavernous lungs and crystallizes veins
I shall move you into charming poses
Unrehearsed and never flattering
In your portrait we'll discover a new resemblance to a memory we often recognize
A new taste for criticism surrenders to us like a bullet to a trigger
You crumble to the floor with the flakes of plaster no longer lynched onto the wall
Where static fails we'll bury you
We'll photograph you
We'll mark you with a stone
