Terra.com launched an online casting call for Telemundo?s popular reality star search series, Protagonistas de la Fama. Between now and May 17, the only way for star-hopefuls to capture a spot on the set is by downloading the audition application online at Terra.com at http://www.terra.com/protagonistas/fama2004.
Reality TV has changed prime time television in the new millennium. America?s craze with the genre continues to grow in this new age of pop-culture as more and more viewers have a hand in an unknown?s destiny. Latinos are no strangers to the popularity of reality TV. According to Nielsen Media Research, Fox?s American Idol was among the top five English-language broadcasts in Hispanic TV homes in mid March.
Since hitting Spanish-language TV airwaves two years ago, Protagonistas reality shows have also won over a huge following by fans. Favorites, including Texas native Maximiliano Alejandro and Puerto Rican Millie Ruperto, have enjoyed their on-screen debuts on both English and Spanish-language soaps. After eight weeks of being confined in a television studio, a group of 12 aspiring actors and actresses face acting, singing, and dancing challenges to accumulate points, while cameras and microphones tape their every move and sound, 24 hours a day. Now, producers of Protagonistas de la Fama are giving budding talent yet another chance to become an overnight success and eager reality-hungry fans the power to make that happen.
Not only can audition applications be downloaded in PDF format on the casting call site, but fans can also get an early glimpse and feed their reality TV frenzy by following the auditions online with photo galleries, message boards, and up-to-date Protagonistas casting call news. Protagonistas fans can have an early picking of their favorites with Mira Mi Foto, where star-hopefuls will upload their photos and start priming the audience for votes. Fans can also reminisce in those magic Protagonistas moments with ?Best Of? highlights and re-live ?Bloopers?.
The casting call site has received an overwhelming response since its launch. In fact, 5,000 enthusiasts downloaded the application in ten days. ?We are seeing that as local auditions near, the amount of downloads increase dramatically,? Dennis Seda, Terra.com?s editor in chief said. ?It will be interesting to see how fans respond and how it will ultimately affect the outcome of the winner.? The casting call calendar can also be accessed online with four in-person audition opportunities scheduled in Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Puerto Rico. Although producers are making these four stops, they are accepting downloaded applications and videos from aspiring entertainers nationwide by mail until May 17.
