It has been brought to the attention of the Latino Theatre Company that a petition is being circulated regarding their participation in the process of determining the future of the Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC). Although the petition is full of misleading and inaccurate statements regarding the events that have taken place at the L.A. City Council and the L.A. City Council Arts Committee, the LTC is not interested in being part of an orchestrated campaign to pit one non-profit arts organization against another.
The Latino Theater Company has a long history at the LATC and its goal is to bring back to the LATC the cultural life, artistic vision and artistic excellence that has long been missing -- in short,
to create a world class theater in downtown Los Angeles that represents all of the diversity of this great City. The LTC's goal is to create bridges between the diverse communities in L.A., and its vision is one of inclusion, not exclusion. It is very grateful to Councilwoman Jan Perry for her patience and support in this long and difficult process. Yes, it has been difficult, but great dreams are not easily fulfilled.
