Take a group of "Survivors"...All overcoming "Fears"...under one roof...add a splash of Idol style criticism...and what do you get??
A really bad episode of Survivor, Fear Factor, Big Brother, and American Idol all rolled into one....Latinos live their own experiences of reality TV everyday of their lives...
Introducing 8 new Latino writers who will drive you away from all the "reality" based programs saturating the viewing media, by telling their own brand of "Barrio Tales."
A little over a year ago 8 writers met in a screenwriting class in Boyle Heights. The class started with over 65 students. The class was taught by Josefina Lopez, great playwright/producer/mentor.. Little by little it got reduced till it reached the current 8 writers. It was a Latino version of "survivor" to see who made it to the end. Thus, the birth of the union "Remaining 8."
R8 has come up with their own experiences/themes ranging from different ideas and experiences by each writer having been raised Latino in Los Angeles. Each writer/director was raised in different parts of LA and will now tell their Barrio Tales. All in good spirits and tasteful family themes.
