Univision Music Group, the country?s leading Latin music label set a new and unparalleled record in Latin music history with nine of the top ten most sold Latin albums in the U.S. and Puerto Rico according to Nielsen SoundScan?s latest Report.
For the week ending May 30, 2004, international Mexican music recording star Lupillo Rivera?s (pictured) ?Con Mis Propias Manos? snared the #1 position immediately a week after its release and also entered Billboard?s Top 200 chart. Rivera is followed by Conjunto Primavera?s ?Dejando Huella? and Disa?s ?Locos de Amor? by Horoscopos in the #3 position. Grupo Montez de Durango is holding strong at #5, and Jennifer Pe?a?s ?Seduccion? is now at #6.
The remainder five positions are as follows: Los Huracanes Del Norte?s ?Con Experiencia y Juventud? is in the #7 position followed by Pasito Duranguense?s self-titled album at #8, Los Tigres del Norte?s ?Pacto de Sangre? at #9 and the compilation ?20 Sencillos? at #10.
According to SoundScan, Univision Records had 12 albums, Fonovisa Records and Disa Records both continued to dominate the charts with 15 albums total each, bringing the company?s sum to 42 albums on the top 100 selling Latin albums chart.
