Yes gente, it's true...Marc Anthony tied the knot with Jennifer Lopez in Los Angeles this past weekend, just days after finalizing his divorce from his first wife. Anthony is currently making the rounds to promote the release of his album "Amar Sin Mentiras", and has refused to confirm Saturday's nuptials while on the Today Show or The View this week. They say the third time's a charm, we wish them well.
Congrats to Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron, whose film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban raked in over 93 million in its debut weekend - the third biggest opening of any film to date.
The Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) Canada returns for its 2nd year July 17- 18, 2004. Highlights include concerts with Los Lobos & Los Amigos Invisibles, Latin hip hop films, panel discussions, artist Q&A's and a battle of the bands. LAMC Los Angeles takes place August 11 - 14, 2004, with panel discussions, exhibits and live performances by Andrea Echeverri (frontwoman of critically acclaimed Aterciopelados), Ely Guerra, Gustavo Santaolalla's Bajofondo Tango Club, Kevin Johansen and others. Comedian George Lopez will host the 5th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards taking place September 1st at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS starting at 8:00 pm ET. Lopez begins filming a Christmas movie for ABC in late June, and his newly released autobiography "Why You Crying?" debuted on the New York Times best-seller list.
The battle for the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores championship is nearing with only a few games and four teams (Sao Paulo, Once Caldes, River Plate and Boca Juniors) remaining. You can catch the games on Fox Sports en Espanol with the second match on June 16th 8:30 pm ET. The finals will be broadcast live on June 23rd & 30th at 7:00 pm ET.
McDonalds has teamed up with Sony Connect to launch a multi-national restaurant promotion "Big Mac Meal Tracks', in which customers who purchase a Big Mac Extra Value Meal will be given an access code worth one free song download on the Connect music store. The promotion starts this week.
Latina magazine re-launched the official magazine website www.Latina.com on June 2nd. The site features Latina magazine content, "Dolores Dice" advice columns, "Latinas Seen" photos of mujeres on the move, valuable resources to help Latinas succeed, contests, quizzes, sweepstakes and the Latina.com message boards.
A local group of Latino leaders are forming the Sonoran Bank in Arizona, a company focusing on the needs of the Hispanic bilingual market. This will be the first bank in Arizona targeted at Hispanic-owned businesses, and set to open in 2005.
Puerto Rican rocker Robi Draco Rosa will be performing with a full band for the first time in Miami as part of the worldwide promotional tour "Mad Love Live". The concert takes place June 19th at Club Fifteen-O-Barton.
Rosario Dawson is the latest to join the star-studded cast for Robert Rodriguez's flick "Sin City", which s a tale of interconnecting lives in a fictional metropolis. Cast includes Benicio del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood and others
Latin America's JossClaude Products has launched Formula Latina in the US, a new line of hair care products especially designed for Latina hair. The line solves Latina hair problems including frizz fighting and shine products, utilizing a variety of natural formulas and ingredients.

EMI US Latin is debuting 3 simultaneous singles for their new artist JD Natasha, who was selected by AOL as the first Latin artist for AOL Impulsa, the same program that helped launch Avril Lavigne & Michel Branch. The singles -Spanish -language tracks "Lagrimas"& "Plastico", as well as the English-language track "Imperfect" - will be available starting June 15th on all top legal digital-music stores. The teenage Miami native's album "Imperfecta/Imperfect" will be released on July 13th.
Puerto Rican five-time World Champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad is returning to the boxing ring to fight Wold Champion Ricardo Mayorga this October 11th. This fight will set the stage for a confrontation with the winner of the Oscar de la Hoya and Bernard Hopkins fight. You can catch Trinidad in the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York on the Budweiser float on Sunday June 13th.
June is Latino Books Month, and the Association of American Publishers has organized projects to celebrate books by and for Latinos in both English and Spanish - you can check out the summer reading list for adults and children at www.publishers.org.
A tribute to Salsa legend Hector Lavoe takes place at the South Street Seaport on June 10th, featuring Willie Colon, Johnny Pacheco, and Michael Stuart.
Yo Soy Latina! is an off-Broadway production, written, directed and produced by a Latina (Linda Nieves-Powell) and starring seven different Latina actresses. Although titled in Spanish, it's written in English and takes an honest and funny look at what it means to be a Latina in America. It explores the stories of six diverse women growing up bilingual and bicultural, dealing with real issues through intelligent short stories. Yo Soy Latina! runs July 13 - August 1st at the Pantheon Theater in New York City.
Be sure to catch Urban Latino TV this week, featuring Colombians such as Shakira and Juanes helping to change the US's perception of their homeland; remembering Latinos who fought at The Alamo; bilingual Chicago rockers, El Guapo; the culinary delights and salsa dancing at one of LA's hottest night spots, Mama Juana's; pop-rock band La Oreja de Van Gogh.
SBC is sponsoring a summer concert series featuring Joan Sebastian and Macro Antonio Solis called the "SBC Gira de los Grandes" tour, which will run from June to October in California, Texas, Nevada and Illinois with a total of 12 concert dates. Stops include Los Angeles at Staples Center on June 26, August 15 at Allstate Arena in Chicago, September 4 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and Arrowhead Arena in Anaheim on October 24, as well as various dates in Texas and other California cities.
A new line of wines is debuting in Texas and Arizona - Palmera's "Vinos de Pasion" was specifically developed for the Latino consumer both in taste preference and branding. The wines are semi-sweet with a hint of effervescence, and contain label imagery celebrating the Hispanic community. Label designs will change frequently, and may feature a local musician, the girl next door or other local Latinos.
