That Fine Southern Kali Sound

California's West Coast sound has become synonymous with talent, great music, good times and a unique kind of comfort zone that is experienced nowhere else on earth.

A juxtaposition of different music genres, blended & smoothed out like a warm summer sea breeze caressing your back in the shade, denotes that West Coast sound that is envied & emulated by musicians around the World.

My friend Jeff Eaton has produced a new CD that exemplifies that very sound. I play it every morning, along with my coffee & pan dulce, at the office ever since I got it! It's one of those CD's you just don't get tired of hearing.

Jeff Eaton's new CD, "Romanticas", reflects not only the talent & soul of this legendary Horn man, but also showcases some of the best talent in Jazz, Latin Jazz, Soul, R&B, and Funk in the U.S. today, making this a collector's item for sure, and an enjoyable listening experience as well.

Featuring the exemplary talents of such greats as Ray Obiedo, Dave Mathews, Pete Escovedo, Mic Gillette, Richard Bean, Bobby "Mr. Fabulous" Gaviola, Greg Errico, Dave Garibaldi, Jeff Chambers, Paul Van Wangenigen, Rafael Ramirez and Angela Bofill, among so many others, this is a true effort of love & talent.

Jeff's flugelhorn & trumpet solos are as close to perfect as any I've ever heard, and I've heard plenty!

Hitting all the corners, "Romanticas" takes you on a musical journey that ranges from the Southern California cruising classic "All day music", to the Anthony Newly tear-jerker "Who can I turn to?", to the classic bolero "Como fue" featuring Angela Bofill on lead vocal. "Tres palabras" brings out that '3 o'clock in the morning' mood, with Jeff's flugelhorn solo making you want to pick up the phone & call somebody! The mellow cruising feeling on "5th & Vernon/San Berdoo Nites" keeps your foot tappin' and his version of "Suavecito" has become a favorite request on my show.

Like my good friend, Chico Manqueros (The Latin Style of Jazz Show), I am pleased and complimented to call Jeff my friend. Not only is he a talented musician, but he is also a warm human being that you could hang with on a Saturday afternoon. It is with pleasure that I submit to you this CD review, which wasn't hard, as I'm playing the CD as I write this!

Whether you're an Oldies,Latin jazz,Funk, R&B or Jazz music lover, "Romanticas" is one of those CD's you'll want to keep in your car, and look for excuses to take a ride!
