Memories through song

Magic Dream

The sound of a soft guitar, an accordion sounding like a sweet violin, a very lightly strummed snare drum, and the loveliest Frankie Avalon voice imaginable.....

Like an old scratchy 33, the song beginss....

Come...... come to me....... and let me see....... if you are real..... are you just another dream... or are you real, really mine........eyes like an angel, lips are so sweet, oh, oh my darling, I can make you mine, completely....... come to me my love and hold me tight..... on this magic night, when all dreams come true......... when all dreams come truuuu..... when all dreams come truuuuu............. when all dreams -- come truuuuuuu......

Each and every person interprets songs differently, mine even if just a phrase...... always brings sweet and sometimes sad remembrances. But, all in all, they bring my past memories to a delightfully heart soothing light.....

As my mind so keenly remembers......

As many children as there were in our household, Christmas gifts were only given to the youngest...... I remember going to bed on Christmas Eve.... my brothers and sisters all asleep... looking up to the sky and praying that there would be additional gifts for them on Christmas morning...... Looking out to the stars, I remember hearing that song in my mind...... the soothing voice saying ?on this magic night, when all dreams come true?...... and silently asking Santa if he heard me, to send a falling star........

The next morning waking up to find only four little gifts....... My brothers and sisters as beautiful as they were, were just as excited as we. The look in their eyes when we opened our gift was as if they had received one of their own....... We knew hardships, we knew sorrows, but the eldest six especially knew that special occasions were of more importance to the youngest four.....

My family - my brothers and sisters - Mom always told us we would make it in this world as long as we loved, respected, and stood next to one another....

Interpretation comes in many fashions, just as in the words sung above - although not quite the same.... being at a very tender age, the only words that I related to..... were...... my vision of dreams coming true.....

Magic Dream, sang by ChaCha Jimenez - vocalist who recorded with Conjunto Bernal (1965) at an extremely young age and is still at present day "A Musical Icon"

A sincere thank you to Jesus "Chuy" Hernandez for playing that beautiful song in his show, chicanoexpress.com

........And a heartfelt thank you to ChaCha Jimenez and Conjunto Bernal for continuing to touch my life through compositions of yesteryear.......
