Alejandro Sanz was a big winner, taking home numerous awards for "No Es Lo Mismo", including Record, Album & Song of the Year, as well as Best Male Pop Vocal Album and more. With online Hispanic consumers purchasing new cars at four times the rate of the general population, AOL Latino has partnered with Autobytel Inc. to launch a new Spanish-language channel called Automoviles. The channel will provide car search and comparison tools, as well as performance and safety info, and the ability to submit an online request to buy from a local Autobytel dealer.
Los Lonely Boys will be in the studio collaborating with Santana on the bands unreleased track "I Don't Want To Lose Your Love", which will be featured next year on Santana's new album.
MTV Latin America announced its nominees for the 3rd annual MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. Julieta Venegas and Cafe Tacuba top the list with 5 noms each, Alejandro Sanz, Diego Torres and Babasonicos receive 4 noms each. Other nominees include Alex Ubago, Bersuit, Capri, Cartel de Santa, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Molotov and Vicentico. The award show will be broadcast live on October 22st at 9:00 pm ET from the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami.
Our condolences go out to the friends and family of GRAMMY winning producer, Tom Capone, who passed away last week as a result of a car accident, just hours after the Latin Grammy ceremony in which he was a 5-time nominee.

Big ups to alt rockers Volumen Cero who were one of the first Latin Alternative acts to make MTV's top 40 video chart on Billboard after being spotlighted on MTV's Advance Warning show in August. The video "Autos" is from their new album Estelar, in stores now. Oscar De La Hoya is being taken to court over his reality show "The Next Great Champ"...again. The golden boy is being sued by Leigh Ann Burton, an indie film and tv producer who claims De La Hoy, Golden Boy Productions, and its CEO stole her idea for the reality series after she pitched it to them last October. The series airs this week.
Congrats to Gustavo Menendez, who was recently promoted to Regional General Manager, Latin America for Warner/Chappell, where he previously served as Vice President, A&R. Menendez will oversee Latin music operations in North America, Central America and South America, while continuing to develop new talent.

Jack Daniels and iCaramba.com present the "Jack Daniel's Studio No. 7" Latin rock series. The four month series kicked off last week with a special show by El Gran Silencio at Show Nightclub in New York, and will continue with shows at BB Kings, Vue, SOBs and other great NYC venues from now through November, culminating in a special VIP unplugged performance (invitation only) by Bacilos on November 15th.
bello Magazine will launch nationally September 16th, and will be the first Latino lifestyle publication to sign a distribution venture with the Los Angeles Times, where the lifestyle magazine will be inserted into more than 250,000 LA Times home delivery subscribers.

Rosario Dawson and Latino youth advocate Phil Colon have launched Voto Latino, a new non-partisan and non-profit organization dedicated to motivate Latino youth to participate in the nation's political process. The launch campaign will include PSA's featuring Dawson, Fat Joe, Nina Sky, Zoe Saldana, Tego Calderon, John Leguizamo and AB Quintanilla among others. The spots are called "People Make Power and will debut on MTV Networks this fall, with the tagline "It's your country, Represent". http://www.votolatino.org
