This week, Mexican pop diva Gloria Trevi, her manager Sergio Andrade and two back-up singers were acquitted of all charges of rape, kidnapping and corruption of minors and ordered to be released from prison. The singer had no comments for the media packed courtroom, however prosecutors have five days to appeal the verdict.

Vicente Fernandez is hitting the road for a 16-date US tour sponsored by Jack Daniels. Kicking off on October 15th in Dallas and continuing with various dates throughout Texas, the crooner will also perform a 4-night stint at Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, as well as dates in New York, Chicago, San Juan, Miami, D.C, San Jose and Las Vegas.

Cox Communications launched Paquete Latino, its new digital cable package specifically tailored to meet the preferences and needs of Hispanic consumers, combining both Spanish and English language programming appealing to multi-generational Hispanic households. Consumers can access up to 35 Spanish-language channels, as well as multiple channels of HBO and local broadcast channels. Some of the networks offered in the package include Discovery En Espanol, ESPN Deportes, CineLatino, MTV Espanol, VHUno, Azteca America, and others.

Nuyorican rapper Fat Joe's new album, "Things of That Nature" is due out November 30th. The album includes a track which talks about how to be successful as a Hispanic music artist, in which he jokes about Menudo and Ricky Martin.

La Opinion newspaper in Los Angeles has named Ruben Keoseyan as Executive Editor, and Pedro Rojas was appointed Executive Editor at El Diario La Prensa in New York.

mun2 debuts "gamer.tv" this month, a new weekly series for video gamers, featuring on-location reports on a wide variety of topics about the video industry. The show will also offer viewers behind-the-scenes access, such as a trip to England to hang out with Angelina Jolie on the set of "Tomb Raider 2", or a trip to California to meet the man behind the voice of the Mario character. The show airs September 26th at 6:00 pm ET/PT.

Jennifer Lopez will receive the first annual "Noche De Ninos" award, to benefit Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The award honors Lopez for her humanitarian efforts for the hospital, and will be presented to her by Leonardo Di Caprio. The evening will be hosted by Antonio Banderas at the Beverly Hilton on October 2nd.

Expo Comida Latina (ECL) will take place October 3 - 5 at the LA Convention Center, while the East Coast version is slated for October 26 & 27 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. The event is a one-stop marketplace to help bring toegher producers and suppliers of basic and specialty products to meet the needs of Hispanic consumers and the millions of other Americans who purchase Latino foods. Ely Guerra's highly anticipated 4th album "Sweet and Sour, Hot y Spicy" hits stores this week. The 12-track CD, whose first six tracks convey the Sweet & Sour element - with the latter tracks evoking the Hot y Spicy, features collaborations with Cafe Tacuba's Emmanuel del Real and Control Machete's Toy Hernandez.

iCaramba U Magazine hits the stands this week at 100 colleges and universities, including Yale, Harvard and UC Berkeley. The magazine is specifically targeted to college-age Latinos, and will feature profiles of students, Q&A and fashion sections and articles written by students and graduates.

Congrats to the winners for this year's Americas Award, given by the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs for books that portray Latin America, the Caribbean or Latinos in the US, are Yuyi Morales for her picture book "Just a Minute: a Trickster Tale and Counting Book"; and Judith Ortiz Cofer for her novel for high school and adult readers, "The Meaning of Consuelo".

Cristina Saralegui is getting into the furniture biz. The talk show host will unveil her new line "Casa Cristina" next month, which features over 100 pieces inspired by her own home and style, with design elements including wrought-iron, bamboo and stone.

New School University and Time Warner will present a panel discussion on "Defining the New Mainstream: The Growing Influence of Latinos in America" on Thursday, October 7th from 55:30 - 7:30 pm at the John L. Tishman Auditorium in New York City.
