A Celebration of Latino Film

Ricardo Montalban's vision continues to be materialized as NOSOTROS hosts the 1st Annual Nosotros American Latino Film Festival (NALFF) on November 5th through the 7th.

The film festival will take place at the theatre recently named for the legendary actor, the Ricardo Montalban Theatre, in the heart of Hollywood at 1615 N. Vine St., Hollywood Ca., 90028, formerly known as the James A. Doolittle Theatre.

The three-day celebration is open to the general public and will showcase over 35 films and will include parties, live entertainment throughout, celebrity appearances and more.

Among the feature-length films to be screened will be ?El Matadero.? Some have called it the ?Latino Blair Witch Project?. Highlighting the international Latino cinema explosion, the festival will also host a benefit screening of the big budget box office hit ?Matando Cabos,? one of the highest grossing films in Mexico's history. The film was produced by Billy and Fernando Rozvar Diez Barroso, the grandchildren of the Azcarraga Dynasty in Mexico.

Other films to consider are ?2+2+5+1? featuring the Mexican heart throb Fernando Carillo and ?Lo Inexplicable? featuring Rene Levan (?Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights?) or ?Rose's Garden? starring Hollywood legend Tipi Hedren (Alfred Hitchcocks' - ?The Birds?, and newly released ?I Heart Huckabees?). Funds raised will benefit Nosotros and the Ricardo Montalban Foundation, two important non-profit organizations working to create opportunities for Latinos in the industry.

The festival will also showcase short films, in addition to hosting educational workshops and open forums with professional filmmakers. Special programs include an ?Acting Essentials? seminar with Golden Eagle Award Winner Mike Gomez, sponsored by the Screen Actors Guild, and an open forum with Josefina Lopez, author of the stage drama ?Real Women Have Curves,? and a co-author of the screenplay for the hit film adaptation.
