White House legal counsel Alberto Gonzales was nominated this week by President Bush to replace Attorney General John Aschroft, who Wednesday announced his resignation. If appointed, Gonzales would be the country's first Hispanic Attorney General.
Did you know that Latino teens make up about 20% of all teenagers in the US? According to a new study called Latino Intelligence, of the young people interviewed, 48% of 14 to 24 year olds are bilingual, however their favorite networks are MTV, Fox and Comedy Central, and their favorite music is hip-hop.
Musical chairs anyone...as Madonna announces a split with longtime manger Caresse Henry, rumors are flying that Henry is in talks to rep Ricky Martin, after he parted ways last week with Handprint Entertainment's Benny Medina.
Latin music mogul Emilio Estefan is holding a talent search in New York for the next Latin superstar for an upcoming reality series on Telemundo called "Nuevas Voces of America".. The final winner will receive a recording contract with a major record label. Auditions take place this Saturday, November 13th at the Apollo Theatre. Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz are currently shooting the film "Bandidas" in Durango, Mexico. The film is a comedy Western, also starring Dwight Yoakam, Sam Shepard and Steve Zahn.
More than 10.2 million Latinos registered to vote, and over 7.6 million actually voted in last week's presidential election, a 1.6 million increase versus 2000 numbers.
Miller Brewing Company has signed a $100 million/3-year deal with Univision Communications. The agreement will extend to Univision radio, television and web outlets, and will make Miller the exclusive beer advertiser during the first half of the 2006 World Cup.

Si TV debuts a new show on November 19th called "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner", hosted by Neil Saavedra, who portrays Jesus Christ every Sunday morning on LA radio station KFI AM 640 and Idalis de Leon. The pair will host the network's first politically charged show, discussing hot topics such as prisoner rights, abortion, and gay marriage with restaurant patrons at their favorite eateries.
Internet users in Mexico increased by 21.6% last year, to exceed 14 million users. Of the total Mexican online population:
? 53% of the users are men
? Young people between 13 and 24 years old represent 47% of the users
? 42% of the users are 25 to 35 years old
? Almost 70% of the users have higher education
? 78% of the users go online from home
? 62% access the Internet from the office
? Cyber cafes and schools only receive 37% and 26% of the users, respectively

Luis Miguel released "Mexico en la Piel" this week, his first album dedicated entirely to Ranchera music. The CD features 13 classic Mariachi songs, with "Que Seas Feliz" as the first single.
Univision?s 3rd quarter earnings are up 74%, but Univision executives are forecasting a decrease in 4th quarter earnings due to movie studios, long distance telephone companies and retailers slashing ad buys during the period

Nielsen Media Research released its Hispanic Reach and Frequency program, which provides separate reach and frequency models for Nielsen's national Hispanic sample and for each of the 19 markets measured by Nielsen Hispanic Station Index.
