Cuco Gomez-Gomez is Dead!

Actor/writer-director Francisco Lorite (pictured) who announced the official launch of his new production company, INSPIRED BY Films last January, is already successfully inspiring the entertainment industry with his first production, "Cuco Gomez-Gomez Is Dead".

Designed as a platform to produce works which enrich, challenge and entertain, INSPIRED BY Films is also positively committed to serve as a haven for up-and-coming Latin talent to grow and develop. Accordingly, the first production, "Cuco Gomez-Gomez is Dead!", written and directed by Lorite, is a 10-minute fast-paced whodunit that gathers an all star-cast of talented Latino actors including Lola Anthony ("Between" Sundance 2005), Patricia Rae ("Maria Full of Grace"), Marlene Forte ("Real Women have Curves") and Enrique Arce ("Showtime?s Fidel").

The short premiered last December at a private screening hosted by the Spanish Consul in Los Angeles, and received riveting reviews and acknowledgement with feature profiles on BackStage West?s ACTION Magazine, Hollywood Scriptwriter Magazine, Latin Heat Magazine and Byron Allen?s syndicated TV show "Latin Lifestyles", to name a few. It has also recently been acquired for broadcast on a new show featuring filmmakers of tomorrow.

"Cuco Gomez-Gomez" might be dead, but very much alive in the film festival circuit!
The groundbreaking short has been accepted as an official selection at this year?s DC Independent Film Festival and The Hong King International Film Festival (HKIFF).

The latter is one of Asia?s most reputable platforms for filmmakers, film professionals and filmgoers from all over the world to launch new works and experience outstanding cinema. This year, SKYY Vodka, the premium American vodka in the iconic cobalt blue bottle has teamed up with Hong Kong International Film Festival for an exciting project within the 29th Festival program: SKYY Vodka Short Film Competition entitled "The Pure Alternative".

Out of thousands of submissions, only five shorts have been selected to enter the competition, "Cuco" being one of them. The winning short film will be announced at the prestigious SKYY Vodka party on April 1st, 2005 and the award-winning filmmaker will be offered the prize of a return air ticket Hong-Kong/San Francisco to attend the San Francisco Film Festival held from April 21 to May 5th, 2005.

Francisco Lorite is certainly proving that there is prosperous momentum in the world of the independents, and that dedicated inspiration goes a long way!

Next on the schedule for INSPIRED BY Films is a first full-length feature: a supernatural urban-western which will have some of the more ethnic neighborhoods of Los Angeles as background for the story of a young orphan Latina girl and the priest assigned to protect her and her secret. Production is set to begin this Summer on location throughout LA and Mexico. The screenplay is by Lorite.

INSPIRED BY Films is a film production company based in Los Angeles, developed and managed by founder Francisco Lorite.
