Director Robert Rodriguez's highly anticipated film, Sin City, opens in theatres across the US this week. The film, co-directed by Frank Miller and based on the writer's novels of the same name, stars a laundry list of Hollywood's hottest stars, including Benicio del Toro, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Christopher Walken, Clive Owen, Jamie King and many others. Sin City tells the twisted story of crime, sex, revenge and redemption in true Rodriguez fashion, while staying faithful to Miller's books.

Juanes, Aleks Syntek, Daddy Yankee, Marco Antonio Solis, Thalia, AB Quintanilla III, Pepe Aguilar, Franco de Vita, Juan Luis Guerra, Olga Tanon and Conjunto Primavera have all been announced to perform at the 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards which take place on Thursday April 28th at the Miami Arena and will be broadcast live on Telemundo at 7pm ET/PT.

Emilio Estefan's "Las Nuevas Voces de America" reality talent search continues, with just 10 hopefuls remaining. This week's show has Crystal de La Cruz, a Mexican-American from Oxnard,CA, going up against Puerto Rico's Zurisaddai Jaurbe - with the audience deciding who gets to stay on. The series airs Sunday's on Telemundo at 8:00 pm.

Jorge Pinos, former Senior VP of William Morris, has opened his own company, JEP Entertainment Group, Inc., a full service management and entertainment company. The new group, whose focus will be to develop new avenues for clients as well as break new territories within the US and Internationally, will be based out of Encino, CA. A veteran at William Morris for over 22 years, Pinos worked with clients such as Juan Gabriel, Lucero, Thalia, Carlos Ponce, Christian Castro and countless others, and was instrumental in the careers of such artists such as Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias, Shakira, Jose Feliciano and more.
In an unprecedented move, AOL Latino, MSN Latino, Terra Networks, Univision.com, Yahoo! en Espanol, and other Hispanic online portals have joined forces to launch a marketing campaign targeted at industry leaders in the Hispanic advertising community. The brands hope to build awareness of Interactive as a vital medium for reaching the Hispanic audience.

Controversial ex-baseballer, Jose Canseco, has signed on to appear in The Surreal Life 5 for VH1. Canseco joins Janice Dickinson (ex-Supermodel), Omarosa (the Apprentice), Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers), Sandi Denton (Salt & Pepa) and Carey Hart (Motocross).

Multiplatinum rockers Jaguares return with their first studio album in four years with the May 31st release of "Cronicas de un Laberinto". The album, co-produced by King Crimson's Adrian Belew, features 14 new songs including the first single, Hay Amores Que Matan. Jaguares hit the road for 26 dates throughout the US starting May 11th in Kansas City, and continuing through August with various stops in California, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, Illinios, and Tennessee.

Rick Najera's Imagen award winning comedy, Latinologues, announced its first national tour to kick off on March 31st at San Luis Obispo's Christopher Cohan Center. Guest starring Efren Ramirez (Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite), Eugenio Derbez and Rene Lavan, the tour will hit 16 cities including Dallas, Seattle, Houston, Portland, Fresno, Austin and more.
The City of Hope & The Bold and The Beautiful have teamed up to present a Celebrity Gala and Fashion Show on April 2nd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Lorenzo Lamas joins the cast of the CBS soap and other celebs, as they strut their stuff down the runway for a good cause. Over 60 evening gowns will be featured in the fashion show and 35 of these will be auctioned on eBay through April 8th. Proceeds of the auction benefit City of Hope, one of the world's leading research and treatment centers for cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.

Famed music producer Gustavo Santaolalla (Juanes, Cafe Tacuba, Motorcycle Diaries) and his label Surco Records have released singer/songwriter Javier Garcia's new album, "13". The album features special guests such as Arturo Sandoval, creating a unique new alterna-pop sound fusing musical styles such as Rock, Hip-Hop, Ska, Calypso, Funk, Reggae and Tropical rhythms.

Spike Lee is working on a documentary called Fusion, which will explore the roots of Brazilian music.

Congrats to New York's own Si*Se, who will perform alongside David Byrne, Arcade Fire and Extra Action on June 26th for the opening night of KCRW's World Music Festival summer series at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Los Angeles based KCRW is a longtime supporter of innovative Latin music, and will be releasing a compilation of live in-studio performances by Latino artists later this year with the new Latin label, Nacional Records.

There's a growing trend of Latino baseball stars using their salaries wisely - buying baseball teams from their native lands. Carlos Baerga first bought a Puerto Rican team in 2000, and now Dodger 3rd baseman, Jose Valentin, has followed suit and is the proud owner of a team for the Puerto Rico winter league. Dodger pitcher, Odalis Perez, also recently attempted to purchase a team in the Dominican Republic.

John Leguizamo is set to star with Claire Forlani, Craig Bierko and Michael Pena in a comedy sitcom pilot for CBS. Leguizamo will play a sports agent raising children with Forlani, his magazine editor wife.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Joaquin Luqui, one of Spain's most popular radio DJs over the past 30 years, who passed away after an accidental fall in his home.
