Cafe Tacuba will release "Un Viaje", their new offering available in 3 editions - a double CD featuring 29 live tracks; a DVD with live concert footage and bonus content; and a special edition version with 3 CDs, including a bonus CD with 8 tracks not available anywhere else, and a DVD featuring 23 videos and bonus interviews, rehearsals, acoustic performances and photos. The album was recorded live on October 6 & 7, 2004, at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, where the band performed its 15 year anniversary celebration concert for 40,000 fans.

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the Latin Media & Entertainment Commission (LMEC) announced the creation of the Nueva Estrella Awards, a bilingual Latin music talent show aiming to discover emerging Latino talent. The contest will consist of four open auditions, three semi-finalist competitions and one final televised live-audience show in which three main winners will be awarded recording contracts with Sony/BMG. The next open audition will be held April 10th at the China Club from 2 - 7pm.

Telemundo viewers can vote for their favorite star to win the "Viewers Choice" award at the 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards. To cast your vote, log on to www.telemundo.com between now and April 21st, and vote for one of 48 artists to choose from. The Viewers Choice winner will be announced at the award ceremony, which takes place April 28th at 7pm in the Miami Arena.

The 13th Annual ASCAP Latin Music Awards took place in New York this week. Rudy Perez was presented with the Songwriter of the Year award and Ruben Blades was honored with the ASCAP Foundation award. For a complete listing of awards, click here www.ascap.com

Penelope Cruz joins Bono, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt and others in a celebrity PSA campaign focused on raising awareness about Africa's AIDS epidemic.

Nextel will launch a new campaign highlighting the brand's Direct Connect service, the only walkie-talkie service to cross the borders of the US into Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Canada in under a second. The new national commercial, called Blender, debuted this week during the Tributo a Selena concert, and will air on Univision, Telemundo, Galavision, Azteca TV, Fox Sports en Espanol and Telefutura.

Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre has changed its name to the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City Walk, after a recent deal with the Gibson Guitar Corp. As part of the deal, the venue will be revamped, the decor changed to include a guitar theme, the lighting system will be improved, and a luxury skybox suite will be added.

Telemundo named Don Browne as President of the company. Browne formerly served at the network's COO, and replaces Jim McNamara.

Big ups to Oscar winner, Jorge Drexler, who performed on The Tonight Show this week. Drexler recently won his first Oscar for "Al Otro Lado del Rio", voted Best Original Song from the critically acclaimed film, Motorcycle Diaries.

Coors unveiled its 2005 advertising campaign targeting Hispanics. The Coors Light spots and ads continue with the tagline "Asi de Fria', and features 4 new TV commercials as well as print, radio and other advertising and promotions.

The Johnnie Walker Fusion event, which took place at Quixote Studios in West Hollywood, drew Hollywood Latinos and industry insiders. Chef Aaron Sanchez and designer Gustavo Arango showcased their interpretations of the local Latin spirit that gives Los Angeles its distinct flavor - Arango through his design of the interior space and Sanchez through his skills with food and drink. Proceeds from the event benefited Self Help Graphics & Art.

Razor & Tie will release Los Kidz Bop, the first volume in the Kidz Bop series geared towards fans of Latino music artists. The album will feature hit songs made famous by Latino artists, such as Livin La Vida Loca, A Dios Le Pido, Whenever Wherever, Heaven, Sera Que No Me Amas, and more

Telemundo has partnered with Home Depot in a product placement sponsorship in which Home Depot will be the official sponsor of "Mi Primer Hogar", a home improvement show on the network.

Taco Bell and Mountain Dew have teamed up on a promotion where customers have a chance to win $1 million pesos! The "Drink a Baja Blast and you could Win a Million Pesos" contest runs through June 15th. $1 million pesos = $88,000 US dollars (approx).

Paulina Rubio is ending her worldwide tour with 25 dates across the US, beginning April 29th in Dallas, and hitting numerous cities in Texas and California, as well as stops in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, Orlando, Tampa, Detroit, Chicago, and Washington, DC.

Merril Lynch Arteamericas takes place April 7 - 11 at the Coconut Grove Convention Center in Miami. The art fair features 50 galleries from 18 countries and is devoted exclusively to art from Latin America. In its 3rd year, the works of renowned artists such as Diego Rivera, Fernando Botero, Roberto Matta, Rufino Tamayo and many others will be show, as well as works from countless up and coming artists.
