Penelope Cruz re-teams with Pedro Almodovar for the film "Volver", a generational story about three women who leave their home in southern Spain and travel to Madrid in search of a better life.

Dominican baseballer Sammy Sosa announced that he'll be retiring by the time he's 40 - even if that means he won't reach his goal of 700 career home runs. But not to worry, Sosa is only 36 - a lot can happen in 4 years!

Big ups to Juanes, who was chosen by TIME Magazine as one of "The 100 Most Influential People in the World". Juanes will also be joining Melissa Ethereidge and Jon Stewart as performers for the TIME 100 gala dinner in New York.

103.3 The Vibe, Hip-Hop y Mas is a new Hispanic-targeted CHR/Rhythmic format on KKSB in Santa Barbara, CA. The station will be hosted in English and play a combination of Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggaeton.

The Latin Recording Academy announced its 6th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards Poster Competition. LARAS has partnered with non-profit Latino Art Beat to call for student design entries for possible selection as the official artwork for the 6th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. Forming part of Latino Art Beat's challenging annual "Hispanic Heritage" art competition, which currently is being offered to students in Chicago, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., the Latin GRAMMY poster competition is open to high school juniors and seniors, and college freshmen and sophomores under the age of 21.

Latinas are uniting for the Latin Hip Hop Divas Tour, featuring Ivy Queen, Nina Sky and Adassa. The tour will hit stops in Oklahoma, Texas, Phoenix, North Carolina and California throughout May and June, with more confirmed dates to be announced shortly.

Johnson & Johnson launched Vida Nuestra, a national Hispanic health and Wellness program, which features a bilingual, interactive tour across the nation to reach Hispanics with important health information. The tour will last through October, visiting communities in California, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

Hernan Daguerre joins MTV Networks Latin America as Director of Communications. Daguirre will be based out of Miami and will report to Linda Alexander, Sr. VP of Communications.

According to People En Espanol magazine, Santana revealed that both Sting and Sheryl Crow turned him down to participate on his new album, All That I Am. The singer went on to state that he's not sure why they didn't want to collaborate with him, but he is not taking it personal and would welcome the opportunity to work with them in the future.

Did you know that last week's "Selena: Vive!" tribute concert was the most viewed Spanish-language TV special ever, with a 35.9 household rating?

Sportsya, a producer and distributor of multimedia sports content in Spanish, and Deportes Telemundo offer a new service called "Titulares al Momento". The service allows Hispanic fans to use their wireless phones to receive information such as final scores on Mexican soccer games, and can customize additional info they would like to receive, such as goal to goal updates, by visiting www.sportsya.com

Gloria Trevi, Kalimba, Ha*Ash, Yahir, Obie Bermudez, Grupo Montez de Durango, Gigantes de America, Paquita la del Barrio, and others will perform at the OTRA Beer Cinco de Mayo Festival at Whittier Narrows in Los Angeles, presented by La Raza 97.9, El Sol 96.3, and Heftel del Rey Enteratinment. The concert takes place on April 24th from 11am to 5pm for a crowd of over 150,000 Latin music fans.

In an effort to raise awareness and resources to support music education programs and foster up-and-coming artists in Hispanic communities, the Billboard Latin Music Conference & Awards and Heineken have teamed to present the Heineken Green Ribbon Initiative. Heineken will make a donation to the Celia Cruz Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for under-privileged youth pursuing music, and celebrities, artists, industry VIPs and media attending the Billboard Conference and Awards will be encouraged to wear a green ribbon in support of the program objectives.

Dora the Explorer fans across the country can now experience Dora's world with "La Casa de Dora", a 2,000 square foot, Latin American inspired exhibit which contains play and problem-solving activities with Spanish-language elements. La Casa de Dora features Latin music, computer games from NickJr.com, a visit from the Dora costume character and more. La Casa de Dora mall tour continues on 4/16 & 17 at Coronado Center in Albuquerque, NM; 4/23 & 24 at Pembrook Lakes Mall in Miami, FL: and 4/30 - 5/1 at Spring Hill Maill in Chicago, IL.

Congrats to the all the Premios Gardel winners! Premios Gardel is Argentina's biggest music award, and Vicentico took home four awards for Best Rock Album, Best Video, Song of the Year and Best Album Cover; Bersuit took home two awards, including the top Gardel de Oro; and Diego Torres also took home two awards in various categories. Other winners include Hilda Lizarazu, Miranda, Superveille, Juana Molina, Soda Stereo, Los Nocheros, Carlos "La Mona" Gimenez, Floricienta and Javier Malosetti.

Support Latin film! Viva Tu Cine! and Hispanofilms will debut the Mexican comedy "Dame Tu Cuerpo" in nine theatres throughout Los Angeles on April 29th. The film was directed by Rafael Montero (Cilantro y Perejil) and stars Rafael Sanchez Navarro, Luz Maria Zetina and Pedro Alvarez Tostado. From the screenwriter of the hit film "Todo el Poder" Enrique Renteria, "Dame Tu Cuerpo" is about a hapless trio of friends who epxerience a disturbance in the cosmos which causes two of the friends to switch bodies. ESPN Deportes will kick off its inaugural season of Spanish-language coverage of the 2005 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with the live telecast of the league's first intra-city rivalry with Club Deportivo Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, on Saturday April 23rd at 10 pm EST.
