Live Electronics

Ni?o Astronauta was born in Ensenada, Mexico in 1998. It is a musical offering that is as original as it is challenging -- A LIVE electronic band that takes this genre to the next level. The project consists of a trio; Tati Moreno Cota, bass; Ignacio ?Nashio? Chavez, laptop/keyboard; and Argel ?Arhkota? Cota, drums. By combining their musical talents and the instrumental tools a new sound is created which carries hints of nu-jazz, Breakbeats, Glitch pop, 2-step, rock, funk and tons of groove. Notable comparisons have been difficult to make, considering the sound is so fresh, yet memorable for every new listener.

In 1999 the determined trio decided to move to Los Angeles to gain an acceptance in the thriving music industry and to play better shows. Within the years 1999 to 2002 they recorded 3 demos to promote their music to clubs, managers, fans and record labels. Within their few years in Los Angeles, Ni?o Astronauta has continually played at well known venues throughout the area, including ?The Palace?, ?Key Club?, ?Roxy?, ?Whisky-A-Go-Go?, ?California Plaza?, ?Universal Amphitheater Sirus Stage?, among others. Recently they have been invited/well received at various music conferences/festivals including ?Latin Alternative Music Conference?, ?South by Southwest?, ?Baja Prog jazz festival?, Radio Global festival ,Celulas and the ?Northalsted Festival? in Chicago, with more in the works.

In late 2003, Tijuana based independent record label, Nimboestatic agreed to release Ni?o Astronauta?s debut CD. By early 2004 Ni?o Astronauta?s CD was distributed in all major stores throughout Mexico, and is selling at an impressive rate for an independent project. Notable reviews have been written about Ni?o Astronauta?s debut CD, receiving 3.5 stars from the predominately conventional rock magazine, ?The Rolling Stone: Mexico?.

2005-Their debut CD will be soon released in the U.S. under Trevor Baade's Family Tree Recordings & Marc Cesarec's Full Cirlce Media and distribuited worldwide by ?Kajmere Sound Distribution?.

The EP will include as first single San Fernando Road, beside remixes by John Tejada and Terrestre (former member of the Nortec Collective) and a new exclusive track "Arizona".
