Established in Los Angeles in 1992, Banda Los Lagos recently released "Busco Una Mujer", their 14th album. The album reflects a renewed style, with the first banda version of Jose Alfredo Jimenez?s classic ranchero "Poco a Poco", the addition of the tuba to reinforce the band?s already potent brass section, and the first ever inclusion of techno music with the traditional banda sound.
Elio Encisco, director, founder, and trumpet player of the band, says, ?The new album 'Busco Una Mujer' is filled with nice surprises, since we now have two vocalists, each with a unique style that they bring to life in performances and in the recording studio. They leave their singular stamp on each of the songs on the album.? Eliseo Reyes is at his best with the rancheras and corridos, whereas Misael Navarro takes the lead on the cumbias and ballads.
Most of the members hail from San Juan Tecomatl?n, Mexico, bringing stories of great and small successes; anecdotes of their struggles, hard work, and determination; words intimately tied to the public that appreciates their music. Sons of humble families but filled with dedication to overcoming any obstacle, the members of the band immigrated from Jalisco to California, where, one-by-one, destiny brought them together.
Elio asserts that a large part of the band?s success is the members? positive attitude, sense of responsibility, discipline, and unity. Aside from their dedication to the music, away from the stage and studio sessions the musicians spend much of their free time enjoying another great passion: soccer.
Thanks to soccer, the band members maintain an enviable physical condition and an upbeat, winning spirit. For three years in a row, they have taken first place in the San Fernando Soccer League in California. Hundreds of fans and admirers attend their matches to support their favorite athletes and band!
Hits like "Te Quiero, Te Amo", "Te Extra?o"; "Dime Que S?"; "A Los Cuatro Vientos"; "Que Sufrimiento"; and "Vaquero G?ero" can be heard in their energetic live appearances, always bringing the fans back for more. Their appearance at the 2001 Fiesta Broadway in Los Angeles garnered a roar from the cheering crowd of more than 50,000 fans.
