Get Some Sunshine, Mi Gente!

As I sit here, putting some Noxema on my neck & shoulders from a brief sunburn, I contemplate the happy experiences that got me into this not-so-bad situation, to which I will shortly return with no regrets.

Living life large in Latino L.A. !

It's Summertime in Califas, the Land of 1000 Dances. The land is jumpin' & poppin' with things to do, people to watch, places to go, and of course , beautiful music to
hear and dance to!

It's like that in Aztlan... Nothing else like it on the planet!

I'm out there, my Lady's out there with me, my family and friends are out there, school's out and beautiful Brown children are out there.

The Gente de Aztlan are out there! Que maravilla!

Myself, Crazy Chuy Hernandez, and "Maloman" Roybal are keeping the Internet radio airwaves happy, alive, & kickin' with Chicano Music.

Richard "THEE MR." Duran gots Internet TV covered with Chicano entertainment.

Chicano comedians like Gilbert "Kiki" Esquivel and Rudy Moreno defy you to be depressed when they're around! These homies threaten the livelihood of the makers of anti-depressant medication for sure!

Outdoor venues like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, The Greek Theater, The Hollywood Bowl, The Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet, The Hansen Dam in the San Fernando Valley, The Whittier Narrows, Smith Park in Pico Rivera, Montebello Park, The Santa Monica Pier, and Ganesha Park in Pomona are alive & thriving with summer concert schedules, music for the Gente!

Indoor hot spots like The Norwalk Ramada Inn, The Montebello Inn, The Lakewood Hop, The Puente Hills Hop, BB King's at Universal Citywalk, and JR's Italian Food & Sportsbar in Covina are jumping, bumping, & pumping the Latino beat of music that keeps the Gente dancing & romancing when the sun goes down.

...and that's just a few places in L.A. that I haunt!

Places like the Chumash, Pachanga and Palm Springs Casinos are helping the Gente make the best of high gas prices by keeping the Gente from making the long trips to Las Vegas & Laughlin by offering luxury resort accomodations at reasonable prices, lively & winning (i.e paying) gaming, and some of the best music & entertainment Aztlan has to offer.

Music talent the likes of The EAST L.A. REVUE ALL STAR BAND, SATISFACTION, CHICO, THE VILLAGE CALLERS, SANGRIA, THE BLUES STRAIGHT UP BAND, TIERRA, MESTIZO, NUESTRO, MALO, THE TOWER OF POWER, LOW-RIDER, WAR, STEVE SALAS, CORY SILVA, PEPE MARQUEZ, ANTHONY PRIETO, ROCKY PADILLA, and JOE BATAAN (whew!..and I'm just talking Califas) are making sure the Gente de Aztlan have no shortage of music stars & happenings in the Land of 1000 Dances.

The 2005 Oxnard Salsa Festival happens July 30th & 31st in Oxnard, Califas.

The Kings of Soul concert featuring Joe Bataan, Rocky Padilla, the Younghearts, Jimmy Conwell, Frankie Karl & the Dreams, and comedian Emilio Rivera happens August 13th in Riverside, Califas.

Northern California groups like Los Mocosos, The Latin Soul Project, The Kool Kats, and now the San Francisco Bay area's latest group ~ Hip Service ~ are beginning to rock Califas & Aztlan with a generational blending of Soul & ritmo like never before.

Man!...it feels SO good to live in the Land of 1000 Dances!

Latest rumors: Pepe Marquez & Hip Service are coming out with new CD's...Crazy Chuy
Hernandez & Ruben Molina have a line on some of Texas's latest Chicano Oldies music soon to be released...a summer dream concert featuring Chico, The Village Callers, Satisfaction, and The East L.A. Revue, and hosted by yours truly is in the works..only question is when & where?

...whenever and wherever the happpenings occur ...you'll hear it here, in full detail, on LATINOLA.com !

...because it's a Brown thing baby! No shame in our game!

...who knows where Frankie Firme will show up next?...hmmmm.....
