The Chaffey College Foundation caps off Hispanic Heritage month with the first ever Mariachi Under the Stars music festival on October 15, 2005 at the Rancho Cucamonga Epicenter from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Mariachi Under the Stars will feature the stellar presentation of Pablo Montero and a line up of the best Mariachi groups in the country all to benefit the Chaffey College Foundation?s Scholarship fund.
Since childhood, Mexican singer Pablo Montero learned the best way to express himself was through a guitar and the magical language of music. Montero began performing traditional Mexican songs at Mexico City?s bars and clubs, the talented artist had the opportunity to make his first solo album, called ?D?nde Estas Coraz?n?, released in 1999. Montero?s acting career started with Vivo Por Elena and Nunca Te Olvidar?, soon playing a main role in the popular Mexican telenovela, Abr?zame Muy Fuerte, acting alongside Victoria Ruffo and Araceli Arambula. In the year 2000, Montero returned to the music charts after issuing a pop/ballad oriented album called Que Voy A Hacer Sin Ti. In 2002, Pidemelo Todo came out and launched another hit single, Hay Otra En Tu Lugar. The record was quickly followed by a home video, Videos y M?s, but by the end of the year Montero was back in the studio. Crafting a tribute to legendary Mexican singer Javier Solis, Montero attempted to reinterpret several of his classic bolero and ranchero songs for a modern audience. Entitled Un Homenaje a Javier Solis, the record arrived in the spring of 2003.
The fun filled family festival will delight the audience with the unmistakable sounds of the pageantry of Mariachi music with the talents of Grammy nominated Mariachi Sol de M?xico de J?se Hern?ndez, Mariachi Monumental de Am?rica, Mariachi Imperial de J. Mario Rodriguez, Mariachi Las Adelitas de J?se Luis Salinas, and Mariachi Juvenil Fiesta M?xicana. MC for the day is the Latino comedy sensation Ernie G known to television audiences through his performances in Que Locos.
?We?re hosting this Mariachi festival to raise scholarship money for deserving students; this is a great way to conclude Hispanic Heritage Month. It is truly a cause for celebration,? exclaimed Ruben Estrada, President of the Chaffey College Foundation.
