The Reprisal of Navidad en Whittier is a Traditional Celebration of Las Posadas, Pinatas & the Holiday Spirit. For the second year in a row Floricanto presents its tribute to the company's Mexican traditions during the Christmas Holidays with Navidad en Whittier, an evening of dance, music & song inspired by the rich traditions of the Mexican community. The traditional music & dance styles from Mexico are celebrated through the memories of an "abuelita" (grandmother) who wants to make sure these traditions are passed on to her children. The pieces range from the older dance forms of folklorico style to newer contemporary dance pieces & compositions created by Danza Floricanto/USA. This is the perfect family choice for remembering our community's Mexican heritage during the holidays or to explore the beauty of a Mexican traditions without leaving home. Bring your mom, your dad, your children or grandchildren & make this your own tradition for the Holidays in LA.

The evening ranges from the singing of the traditional posadas, conchero dancing in honor of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, to the schotises, polkas & waltzes of the turn of the century. It also begins to explore the holiday season as it would be celebrated in the various specific regions of Mexico, such as Tabasco, Yucatan, Chiapas & Jalisco, &, finally, the more contemporary pieces that have come to form part of Mexican Folk dance. The evening ends with the traditional breaking of the pi?ata.
