This year, for starters, The East L.A. Revue and SATISFACTION bands are re~tooling and re-organizing, getting ready to put out some of the hottest music in Aztlan, and planning some major appearances. Get ready for some surprise announcements,too!...

Steven Chavez, Hector Gonzalez and myself will be releasing 2 new CD's, some of the rare Eastside Sounds you've been looking for, from the vaults of the RAMPART, FARO, GORDO, and LINDA record labels...talk about hidden treasures!

Pepe Marquez will be releasing his new CD very soon. His first two did very well, and his third should do even better! This homie is taking Aztlan by storm, big time! There is still some major planning in the works regarding a LatinoLA fundraiser concert, and a 3 day "Floating Chicano Music Party" cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, in October. For more info: stevenchavez68@hotmail.com. Some of the hottest names in Chicano Music & Comedy will be on the bill, so be sure to save some of yours for this great party, the first of many to come!

Author Ruben Molina has a new book and a new CD coming out, making it known that Chicano music is on the rise, and Chicano music never dies! For more info: www.mictlan.com)

Starting our 7th year on the World Wide Web, in addition to KCLAFM.com, and Chicanoexpress.com, The 2nd Time Around Show with Frankie Firme will now be heard on www.QVORadio.com . That's 3 stations, heard coast to coast, and around the world! Along with "Crazy Chuy" Hernandez, the Godfather of Tejano Soul, that's two dedicated Chicano Internet DJ's broadcasting the "Brown sound" around the world, 24/7 !

Hector Gonzalez & Jimmy Velarde are coming close to completing the documentary movie "The West Coast East Side Sound". For more info: Hector4rampart@yahoo.com. This historical documentary traces the roots of West Coast Chicano Rock & Roll, with rare film clips & performances, and interviews with some of the stars of the day, commemorating 40 years of West Coast Chicano Music.

Moctezuma Esparza and Edward James Olmos will be releasing their new movie "Walkout" this spring, based on the 1968 student walkouts in East L.A. High schools, which helped fuel the legendary Chicano Movimiento in Los Angeles and the West Coast.

Bob Gallarza, formerly of the San Fernando Valley, Califas, and now living in Texas, has been nominated for 2 Grammy awards for his last 2 CD's, and will soon be releasing his 3rd. Watch for the word on LatinoLA.com .

Aaron Ballesteros (TIERRA, EL CHICANO, THEE MIDNITERS fame) and his new group APB have had some great success with their first CD "Be on the lookout" , which includes a DVD recording of their smash hit "Huelga". Rumors are circulating about a 2nd CD by this talented Chicano from East L.A., and some live performances...be on the lookout! (for more info: www.apbmusic.org)

Thee Mr. Duran Show, the only Cable/Internet Television show spotlighting Chicano entertainment and music, starts his 6th year on the world wide web, doing what no other vato before him has done! Check him out on www.mrduran.com.

The 13th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival will be happening, as always, in July at the "Barrio by the Sea", Oxnard, Califas. Always a major Califas party, always free, always a great time, always attended by the finest Gente on Earth! (www.oxnardsalsafestival.com)

Two of the funniest Chicano comedians in Aztlan, Rudy Moreno and Gilbert Esquivel, recently released their first Comedy CD, "Doubledate", featuring live performances by these two legends of Chicano comedy. Although the Puente Hills Hop has closed it's doors, The Club Montebello (formerly known as the Montebello Inn), The Lakewood Hop, the Norwalk Ramada Inn, The Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet, the La Barca Cantina & Grill in Whittier, and now Original Mike's in Santa Ana are ready and open for business, providing the best West Coast Chicano music and dancing in Aztlan. Other up & coming venues will open and promoting, and you'll hear about them here, on LatinoLA.com !
